Post not in correct alignment
Hi all,
Hopefully I can get some help from this site, I'm not getting answers on vbulletin.com. Problem #1 I imported my posts from another software, and just yesterday I changed to put the avators to the left of the post. Since I've done that, the users posts are showing up all over the place. Some centered, some left, some align right. First, where to I change the spacing for avatars? I want them all left, and want the post to start right after them. How can I post a screen shot show I can show you want I'm looking for? Also, how do I get my smiley codes above the posts, or even below as in this board? --------------- Added [DATE]1195057223[/DATE] at [TIME]1195057223[/TIME] --------------- --------------- Added [DATE]1195057324[/DATE] at [TIME]1195057324[/TIME] --------------- I'm starting to get a complex. I purchased a license, but on this board and the vbulletin site I can't get a reply to my questions, and I've had several. Am I in the wrong board? Anybody?? I'm really new, and completely lost, probably need to hire a person to help, but in the meantime.... |

That is most likley a style issue. You can edit your styles in your admin cp. Its more or less usual html so if you got some html knowleage tweaking it shouldnt be too difficult.
But please post a screen shot of the problem. You can post it as an attachment, use the button "Manage attachments" that is below the box you type your reply in. Also, are you using a custom style or the standard one? |

I believe it's a custom theme (style). I had help with a friend, but he is no longer finding the time, and I've got to complete this board. I have VERY limited knowledgement. HTML, even less knowledge!
I can't seem to format pictures from work, so I'll complete from home. Thank you very much for replying back to me. |

Thanks for replying Peter, or whom every my answer. Here's a picture of the current board (SMF) and I want the vbulletin to look similiar. Maybe it's because of the font and user names that's making it not centered correctly?
The second image is how my board looks now. As you can see the posts are not to the left, and I really like the seperation of the threads as in the first image. Hopefully the images are large enough for you to see what I'm looking at. Please keep in mind, if you provide the code, please tell me exactly where to pu it, for I won't know how! Thanks in Advance, Murph (Becky) |

Actually, unless you've mixed up the images and its the first one that shows how your board looks right now, Im not really sure I follow you. :P
But I think I see what youre talking about. It seems like imported_megamoose (or is it imported megamoose?) got such a long name that it really wont fit in the space its supposed to. Theres really four fixes for this: 1) Change his/her name to a shorter one :P 2) Change the font size of the names (thats really easy to do) 3) Expand the space to the left of the post (where the name and all that is) so its equally large for everyone (wont really look any good as your own posts will have a huuuge white space left to them) 4) Allow the names to do a line break so his name will look something like imported megamoose insted. Not really a good fix either, and it will only work for users that got a white space in their name. Also, yeah, your style looks a bit white-ish. I suggest that you replace the white with another color (or two colors so it will look more like this board). If you'd like I can explain how to do that. As for the smileys, I dont think theres an option somewhere for that so I think that requres a bit of code modification. Not really difficult though, but Im affraid I really wont have time to help you out with that, but perhaps someone else can? |
