I am sick and tired of Mods
Hi
I have a few phpbb forums and I have installed tons of mods for the last few years. This has become a headache every time I want to update my software Now I see vbulletin has a lot of mods and when I look at them I see some of them are must and some of them are very tempting Installing mods in vbulletin is it wise ? what about updates and security issues? |

whenever you mess with the native code you chance the problem you described. i'm only installing mods that i simply must have to function with my app to limit the future grief.

With the products and plugins that vB has built in, upgrading is a lot easier.
Compared to upgrading a phpbb modded board, vBulletin is 100 times easier |

the details they do not say is that most of the products/hacks released for vBulletin are "without any file edition"... you install them as plugins, no file modification... so it is completely different from phpBB...

Having run a phpbb board for a while in college I must say that the plug-in system in vBulletin is light years ahead of phpbb...now I look back and wonder why anyone would use that bb system...hehe
