Add eBay to postbit(_legacy) WITH AuctionAds info embedded
Developer Last Online: Nov 2012
This is the same as the Commission Junction one I did, but since AuctionAds seems to be all the rage and they offer a url redirect, I thought I'd do it up too!
Requirements: You *MUST* have an AuctionAds account from http://www.auctionads.com and then edit the template edits below and change the YOURAUCTIONADSID to your AuctionAds id given in your account information on AuctionAds. Steps: 1. AdminCP -> User Profile Fields -> Add New User Profile Field Profile field type = Single-line text box Title: eBay ME page (not important as long as it is descriptive to your users) Description: Add your eBay username to allow users to see your ME page on eBay (not important as long as it is descriptive to your users) You can leave the rest to default. **Note down the number of the field! Example: field13. You need to replace the X in the next code with the number!** Repeat the above steps for each of the entries you want in your postbit(_legacy). In other words, if you want to show an user's auction, feedback, and ME page do the above 3 times and make a note of the field numbers for each. Now, template edits: In postbit(_legacy) Find: Code:
$post[skypeicon] For eBay.com Sellers Other Items: Code:
<!-- ebay auctions start --> <if condition="$post[fieldX]"><a href="http://ads.auctionads.com/pagead/link_YOURAUCTIONADSID_0_http%3A//search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZ$post[fieldX]QQhtZ-1" alt="My eBay auctions" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"> <img src="images/misc/ebay.gif" border="0"></a> </if> <!-- ebay auctions end --> User's eBay feedback: Code:

Pick and choose if you do not want all three. You'll also may want to add some <br /> depending on what your postbit(_legacy) looks like when images are added.) Upload the images to "http://www.yourdomain.com/forumROOT/images/misc/" (included the PSD I used to make the gifs so that you can change the images if you want) And that's it... Tell your users to modify their UserCP -> Profile and enter in their eBay names and anytime anyone clicks one of the icons in their postbit, they'll be cookied and their eBay activity could produce you some affiliate pennies! I don't use AuctionAds so much so I can't verify that these work (atleast not yet, putting on board later! ), but I don't see why not since the affiliate redirection works. I will do what I can to help but this is pretty self explanitory... Changing the YOURAUCTIONADSID and the [fieldX] in the code is about as hard as it gets when implementing this hack. As always, feel free to donate some of your earned affiliate pennies to me... But, I won't hold my breath! See a demo here (look in postbit silly! - the demo is, at time of writing this, using the CJ version of this hack, but it'll look the same). Show Your Support
