Default Upgrade Advice

I have been using vBulletin for a few short months now after upgrading from a phpBB variant. It was the best decision I have ever made for my site. At that time, I installed the latest version, being 3.6.5. With the release of 3.6.7, It will be my first attempt at a version upgrade. While the instructions in the release package are clear and I am confident I can handle the core upgrade, there appears to be little consideration given for mods.

As I have installed over 40 modifications (most culled from the mighty archives of vbulletion.org) and 5 custom styles beyond the default, I am concerned about the steps required after the core upgrade.
  1. Will I have to re-install every modification from scratch?
  2. If I have a custom style, will it adopt the templates from the new version of the default style? I did not set them up as child styles, though I think the only differences may be background and text selections.
  3. Will I have to make every manual style modification again?
  4. Can I safely assume that most modifications will be compatible with 3.6.7?

1/ No.
2/ You will have to modify the templates accordingly if they were modified, the ones that weren't modified will update automatically.
3/ No.
4/ Yes.

Are you stating that it ignores modified templates and leaves them in their current state? If that is the case, though the modification to the style would be intact, if there were changes to the new stock version they would not be integrated. At that point, would I revert the template and make the modifications manually?

Yes, or you could go through the release thread on vB.com and check the changes.

Thanks again. When I revert a template after a version upgrade, does it revert to the latest version or the previous version before the template revision?

It will revert to the MASTER style, which is the latest version you have upgraded to (unless it's a child style, and you have modified the parent, in which case it will revert to the modified parent template).

If any of the modifications required edits of the core files, you will need to remake those edits. Products/Plugins will not need to be reinstalled.

You can never make that assumption on any upgrade. In the case of 3.6.5 > 3.6.7 I can't think of any major changes that that are likely to break mods - but you can never be sure (esp as we have no idea what mods you have).
