Alternate text in BBcode Module

I am sure this must be dead simple but I have a BBcode module whose only contents are an image which is linked to another url. How do I add an alt tag to this for users not displaying graphics?

i am using the img and url bb tags but putting an alt="etc etc" immediately after the image location and before the closing img tag does not seem to work.
