Default Is there a mod that allows two forums to see and respond to each others posts?

I am talking about two or more V-bulletin forums on different URL's that are linked to each other, and when one guy posts a thread on www.forum1.com, the guy on www.forum2.com can see it and respond to it?

Do you guys know what that mod is called? I know it exists, as I have seen 4 forums linked that way. Thank you.

FP

You sure they weren't on the site, just on different subdomains? I don't think you can do it over two servers, but as long as they are on the same one you still can.

I have seen it done before between several sites.

It's not really known about, but the creator calls it the "network forum".

Users can share messages, signatures, and avatars across any forum that has this installed.

Select which forum is shared, and have at it.

I don't remember seeing any products or plugins for this puplically though.

There are examples of sites linked in the manner I am talking about:

e90post.com
m3post.com
xbimmers.com
zpost.com

You'll notice 4 different domain names, and identical numbers of users on each forum.

They must be on the same box then I'm guessing. IE: rent a dedicated server and run several sites off of it.

Yes... has anyone figured this out?

Clearly it has been done.

There was a mod called vBNetwork. I think it's a beta and unsupported, but you can check it out.

A simple non tech solution that I have used for my two different boating forums is to just set up an RSS feed from each forum to a dedicated sub forum on the other side.

In that way the guys in my Powerboat Forum can see the posts from the sailing Forum and vice versa. It does assume that they are registered members of both forums!

When they click on the link in one forum they arrive (logged in) in the other forum where they can then post in the original thread. Here's an example: http://www.sailingclub.ie/forums/club-powerboat-ie/

Just a simple suggestion!

Kind regards,

Stuart
