I need to switch off my 3.0.17 vB via CRON

Hi all,

I'm planning an upgrade to vBulletin 3.6.x from 3.0.17 this week. I've already run a test upgrade so I'm happy with the process, however I'd like to set my forum to deactivate prior to tomorrow's backup - should be easy with a quick DB update of the settings table but for some reason when I change the bbactive setting to 0 it doesn't deactivate the forums.

Is there anything else I need to do?

My plan is to shut the forums run the backup and then do an automated restore overnight ready for me to kick off the main upgrade in the morning before reopening manually.
