what I want it to be able to post news so it looks this ^^^ just with out the FAQ search at the top. can anyone help?

I use vbJournal, with a few template edits so no one can really access the blogging part of it, and I just use the one blog I created as the news blog. My site's down right now, so I can't show you an example, but it looks JUST like what you're looking for (after the template edits I believe), plus people can comment on the news too.

I'm sure I could use vbJournal as an example and just write my own Site News mod in a week or two (once my site comes back online).

EDIT: vbJournal doesn't work with 3.6.x straight away, but I figured out a file edit that will quell the nasty errors, if you decide to go that route.
