Mod like VB's members area?

We run a site where vbulletin is part of. Good thing: the complete user management for that site (includes joomla, ticket systems, etc. as well) is done by vbulletin.

Our Problem is that we do have users with a valid support contract which includes the right to get software updates as well. It's not our own software, but e.g. firmware for different products / vendors we sell.

What I'm looking for ist a system that allows me to give certain users / groups access to downloads / additional functions while their support contract is running and deny access once the contract is expired. If possible, I'd add an additional security like "enter your serial number" and chack whether that's under service before, but this is just an optional addon.

I've seen something like this in the members area of vbulletin, so basically it's something like this I'm looking for.
Can anyone help with some directions to the right mod? I've search the forum for 2 hours now, but couldn't find something like this.

why not use the default subscriptions built into vBulletin?

if that doesnt work, maybe check out amember software

I tried the subscription, but that doesn't work, or I'm too blind.

Member software: good hint, haven't searched for these terms.

Any suggestions?

Hi there

still can't find anything and vbulletin themself say their solution is custom coded and they don't know of anything similar.

No one an idea?
