Reading new post...
A member asked me this so Im asking yall......
I love the Search New Posts feature of the home page here, and I use it all the time, but I have a problem with one aspect of it: after what seems like a very short time (~10 minutes or so), all unread posts are automatically marked as read. This happens every time I visit the site, and it goes something like this: Open site Note there are 150+ new posts (typical Monday AM thing) Click New Posts button, start working through new posts Type up responses to maybe 2 posts, nowhere near through new posts list Back to Home page - new post count now zero Is there some way to set a configuration or option to this site such that all threads with unread posts would remain marked unread until you either open them or click a "Mark all posts read" button? I try to keep up with the conversations here, but this "feature" makes it damn difficult if I've been away for any length of time. |

You can use the backbutton instead of hitting new posts again.
I beleive the new posts is only from your last visit, or from last clicking of the New Posts button |

Use the database marking system, not the cookie based system.

that's odd, must be something in your configureation/vB options...
our 'new posts' stay new until you read them... even if you log out and log back in days later, they are in a section entitled something to the effect that these posts aren't new but remain unread, or something like that, BELOW the newest new posts. |
