Hi peeps

I have a concern that i have recently learned about today?

The install code that is in some hacks, if this actually works and adds to the install count and then a user who installed it clicks the install button, would this not count as 2 installs per person thus doubling the install count?

I am not having a dig, its just that i have only just learnt about this tonight and this idea about the installs is niggling the back of my head...

I aint saying this is what it does, i am asking is all?

it can only log one install against each user as it uses the hackid number (threadid) against the username of the logged in member.

I recommend going through your installed hacks list and checking that you actually have installed each one listed, and any that you haven't click uninstall.

Thing is, i am asking cause how does it know who is clicking install from the code?

I see threadid and hack id but nothing with regards to the user?
What is actually stopping someone download the hack passing it so someone
else (e.g. say, none licensed) and they install the hack, wont that run the install script regardless of whos installing it?

Do you get what i mean?

If thats the case then it would double install?

Or is my way of thinking way out there?

Looking closer at 1 of the codes it wont work anyway casue of a typo

This isn't an issue anymore and a response is no longer required. That code is being removed from any and all modifications persuant to a new rule the staff have implemented. This discussion has been going on for several days in another thread and the rule was implemented and those modifications and authors have been addressed. (So you posted this after the issue was already being worked on.)

Well from what i read in that whole thread was that either they remove the code or STATE that its in the code, so i felt every need to post this, not only that what about the installs that have happed prior to the thread in question.....

If my assumptions are correct then there is a need for this thread unless im told by the staff and not staff wannabes!!
