Just turn show signatures off in your User CP options.

Why? You would already know they are hidden for you when you uncheck the box.

And you could add the little - in a template conditional if you really wanted it.

ok, it's not easy. It works, just doesn't stay collapsed/open.

I'm gonna get some kip then try again tonight. It'll come, I'm just a bit to knackered to think about it quick enough to bug fix while doign half a dozen things at once.
