APP: Custom User Websites
Im hoping to start a project but want to run the requirements by you guys to see if anything is technically impossible or if you see anything that will potentially be a problem.
I have seen several modifications posted here at vbulletin.org that are along the lines of what im hoping to do but I want to take it a step ferther. I want to use the vBullitin user/permission system and the user control panel to be able to collect information that will be used to fill out a website template. For instance, a new section in the usercp that asks for a page title, body content, email address etc. as well as the ability to upload pictures and other content that will be stored per user in the database that can be queried and used elsewhere to dynamically build a template based website (that does not use the vB theme, look or feel. For all intents and purposes the page will be a self sufficent website.) Im excited to get started, but wanted to ask you experienced vB coders if you see at a glance anything that will be either impossible, annoying, or potentially a problem for instance server load, speed, ease of use, uploading content via control panel etc. I guess all-in-all my main question is should I even try it or should I start from the ground up and not use vB at all? |

Allowing users to enter HTML is always a huge risk.

Hmm, what if i were only to collect very generic information where they could not format anything themselves. Almost like a form they fill out that will populate a template with a predefined design?
How could i start collecting this additional info peruser? would i need to modify VB's user tables or create new ones? |
