Default Access to Hacks Forums w/o being a VB user

I am the author of the phpSpell add-on which supports phpbb, invision, hivemail and (several others programs)...

One of your users used my basic instructions to add support to his vbulletin board and I noticed there was some confusion in the messages on what to do. I would like to be able to clear up the confusion -- but since I'm not a "registered" client I can't post in any forum but apparently this one.

As an aside, I would also like to actually add "official" support for vbulletin; but for that I would need someone to help me by giving me some variable names and file locations so that I can have my product integrate with vbulletin.

Nathan.

You completely lost me with your reply.

1. I am asking to be able to post a reply in one of the hacks messages. So that I can clear up some confusion about my program (spell checker addon).

2. I was asking for someone to give me some needed information; I was able to glean where the config.php file and what the varibles were for v2.x of vbulletin; I need someone to let me know if anything changed in v3.x and what the name of the table prefix variable is named.

To me #1 is the most important right now...

Nathan.

i think he meant to send you over to www.vbulletin.com, they should be able to help you better, as this site only supports hacked boards and wouldn't be able to help you properly.

go to www.vbulletin.com/forum and post what you posted in your first post and you should receive answers promptly

Ah, I see what you are saying -- however, the post I want to reply to is on this board. I want to clear up some confusion in the installtion of my mod/hack/addon into vbulletin. :-)

2nd, my program is a mod/hack/addon; so wouldn't this be the better board for it. :-)

Nathan.

As an official hack site for vBulletin, we cannot allow members without a valid vBulletin license access to our hacks. Our licensing system is running off the vBulletin.com database - I suggest you contact Jelsoft representatives at vBulletin.com and ask them for permission to have access to our hacks here, as we cannot do it just like that. In the meantime, I will enquire on your behalf here as well.

Thanks -- I contacted someone at Jelsoft and they gave me a weeks access to the board. So at least I will be able to clear up any confusion and hopefully get a version of my spellchecker out that is as easy to install on vBulletin as it is on phpbb, invision and hivemail. :-)

If you do get ahold of somebody; I would love to keep my access longer; because I try and support my product. But I'm pretty jazzed that I was able to post at least once.

Nathan.

Wouldn't it be easier to have Iggy add you to his license? (iggy being the person who originally posted the hack here)

Nathan,

Rose is right. You are doing everyone a nice favor by offering your expertise. And the work you're doing with a valid license holder is legitimate. Iggy has the option of adding you as an authorized person on his license, and that would give you the same access to this site as the rest of us.

Well, to be honest with you when I came to the site I didn't know anything about "licenses" requirements to post. (which imo is stupid) -- I'm used to phpbb (which happens to be my favorite board) where everything is pretty much open.

Rose's, message is the first I've heard about me being tied to another valid license. That is an excellent option and one that would be much easier to pursue then getting Jelsoft giving me my own special license.... Thanks for a potential solution to the problem. I'll have to check with iggy to see if he would be willing to do that.

Nathan.
