 if you'd call it that, from the sounds of it, it sounds like it's mainly gonna be corperate defacing, i reckon the biggest prizes will revolve around ms, apple, etc, but depending on the sites, can't really see it any defacement lasting +30 minutes, all in all, it will be a good day for the economy, all those ppl getting paid over time

Now here is a better bit of news. I doubt hackers will hack 'big' sites, but will hack sites that have known vulnerabilities. Stuff like ensim vulnerabilities etc. Remember their goal is to deface 6000, not the biggest. Be it 6000 small sites, I doubt they care. I am guessing they will actually go for the smaller sites as they barely take any action against them anyways. So just a warning to users patch up your server software (main thing) get rid of passwords that are the name of your site, or your name. Get rid of passwords that have words from the dictionary. Be sure to use different assortments of numbers and letters, and symbols. Try to dissallow anonymous FTP's unless you know for a fact it is safe (ask your webhost). Here is a personal warning to those on Ensim Servers. Upgrade and patch. Some of the versions you get by default on servers from companies like RackShack have versions which are so vulnerable. They are actually some of the easier ones to get into. Back up your files and databases, and other important information. Ask your host to increase security and decrease any public accessable features. Don't get too worried like some others. Just be at a level that you know you are safe. |
