Retrochat - Looking for feedback and suggestions...
Hi,
I am looking for feedback and suggestions on my board which is at www.retrochat.com. The site is dedicated to Retrogaming of days gone by from old computers to consoles, emulators to arcade machines. Basically any platform that you had fond memories of. The colour scheme is still very vBulletin(ish) as it had a retro style, but the board has the following additons, Hiveman, PHP Portals and Photopost gallerys. Many hacks have been added such as the Welcome Panel, Moderator Drop Down Menus, Country Flags, Avatars in Memberlist and an Arcade. My graphic skills are not the best to be honest, so if anybody says draw X, Y or Z, the chances are I will fail. However if anybody can suggest changes that would improve the functionality of the board or the presentation I would love to here about them. The copyright message remains intact on the forums themselves, but has been removed from the portal in agreement with the licensing terms with PHP Portals. I am interested in positive as well as negitive feedback. Thanks. |

Way too many buttons at the top and an ugly mix of vB (which were bad enough ) and custom colors. Also far too many forums for a small userbase, and you need to restore the original vB copyright in the footer. Finally get rid of the mod dropdown because it's useless when you have no moderators.

Buttons I quite agree. The problem I have is I am not very good graphically so unsure on how to address this. Forums The quanity of forums like this is the original intent to make things easy to find. Works well for the current members, but I appricahte what your saying. Footer I read at vBulletin's site you could remove the version number. Looks like I screwed up and removed the whole line, it is restored. Mod Menu Removed. Again, thaks for your comments and the two things that I really need to take away from this so far is what can I do about the buttons and how can I remove the mod column? |

Following on from the helpful comments above, I've done a mockup of a forum template I seem to remember a long time ago.
I've searched at vBTemplates and cannot find it, I was wondering if anyone here knows of it? Thanks. |
