Developer Last Online: Dec 2011
Staff Note: Moved to Graveyard - this will never work now that the old style facebook authentication is no longer available.
Facebook Connect This add-on allows your guests and existing users to login with their Facebook account through Facebook Connect. There is NO NEED to upgrade or reinstall if you already installed this mod for 3.7 Upgrade to 2.0.6 so that users with the new super long IDs will be able to login. This mod conflicts with PhotoPost vBGallery! Quick fix: Disable the following PhotoPost vBGallery plugins:
Benefits of Facebook Connect
Facebook users will be able to receive Facebook notifications when:
Fetch data like name, location, profile picture and use it on your forums! (NOTE: Some data may not be available for some users) Automatically befriend user's friends If any of the user's friends are also registered on the forum, they will automatically be friends! Professional Install/Upgrade/Support Services Want this mod professionally installed? It's guaranteed to work on your forum! Download the archive and see INSTALL.html/UPGRADE.html for more details! Troubleshooting Server Requirements: PHP 5 If you get an error: Code:
The Facebook Connect cross-domain receiver URL http://www.SITEURL.com/xd_receiver.h...%220.699%22%7D must have the application's callback URL http://www.SITEURL.com/forums/ as a prefix. You can configure the callback URL in the application's settings. If you get a continues this means there is a javascript error. Make sure you've done all the template edits correctly (especially footer & navbar). Clear your cache and reload the page. If nothing happens when you click the Facebook Connect button make sure your callback url domain is the same as you forum domain (the one set in your forum settings) - more specifically make sure that there is a www (or isn't) in both domains. Many more features may be implemented in the future so keep checking for updates. Show Your Support

I installed this on my board yesterday and followed the instructions exactly. When I hit the facebook button the first time, it asks if I want to connect to facebook. After the first time, the button does nothing. It comes back saying that my username and password is incorrect and when I try multiple times it stops doing anything.
I even uninstalled and installed again and still having same exact issue. I checked all the trouble shooting measures and still cant figure it out. Any help is appreciated? BTW, will this let users connect directly from my board or will they have to go through the facebook page? Thanks. |

You must have short tags turned on for this to work!

The strangest thing has happened... I am running 3.8 and had this Connect plugin working - for one reason or another - we uninstalled it and have now gone to reinstall it - using the newest 2.0.5 version... we get the - I have checked, double checked and triple checked the code and all is exactly right. I cannot understand this.
Any ideas anyone? Could it be related to having had it installed once before (don't see how)? |

The app works, IF you follow the instructions. If you don't, you will get errors. |

I installed FB connect which never worked for me.
I now get this error when anyone posts or creates a thread: The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 5 characters. I will attempt this thread: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...+entered+short to try and resolve the issue. If anyone else has had this problem please let me know. |

Do not use the enhanced editor. The problem is not with the plugin, but with the editor itself. This happens on almost every plugin that uses the posting functions. Go into your user control panel, use the "standard editor", and you will be fine. |

Well since I spent hours trying to get FB connect working over a period of 1 week, with little support for this mod at this time. I was also left with this I went through the instructions many, many times. So I uninstalled FB connect then returned all the templates back to their original default (as this was my first ad on it was no problem). Seemed like a more logical approach for my situation. But thanks for the tip! If anyone is confident in getting it going for me please let me know (happy to pay). I have a fresh install of vB 3.8.3 (no adons or plugs). Slight mod for putting space between the categories. First though I would like to see it fully working on your own forum. www.byronbayforum.com.au |

Kinosabi,
If you want this installed, let me know, I'll be happy to do it. You can see how well it works by looking at the forum link in my sig. The system works beautifully, as long as you follow the instructions step by step. I've installed this on a number of forums my own and those not, so I know it works quite well. Feel free to drop me a PM if you want me to take care of this for you. |
