Thank you very much for this great mod. That was exactly what I have been looking for. However, I encountered some problems. I set the permissions right for each usergroup, but my users are not able to rate a review. They can click on the stars and then on "rate it", but the ratings don't "stick". Only the reviewer's ratings are visible and the user's rating isn't. I tried re-installing the plugin, but it didn't work unfortunately. I also checked if all files were uploaded correctly, but that didn't help either.
On top of that, I enabled guests (unregistered users) to rate reviews. However, that's not possible either. Is it just me or are others having the same issues? Or is it because I'm using the lite version of DBTech Reviews? I'd be glad if you could help me find a solution. Thanks! Edit: There seems to be something wrong with the permissions, too. I tried to disable the rating for a usergroup, but when I reloaded the page, the usergroup was still able to rate. It didn't save their ratings either, but they shouldn't be able to click on the rating stars to begin with, should they? Edit 2: Oh and I forgot... I properly connected some custom questions with the instance so that shouldn't be the problem. Edit 3: All right, I've tried out a few things now. It seems like there's a problem with the instance's permissions. As an admin, I can rate user reviews properly. When I give a user admin rights, he can rate them as well. So with keeping that in mind, I tried to set the permissions and I found out that I must set these permissions to "YES" if I want the registered users to be able to vote properly. Can View Review --> YES Can Rate Reviews --> YES Can Mod Others --> YES Can Comment --> YES I understand that a user must be able to view a review and to rate it in order to rate it, that's logical. But what about "Mod Others" and "Can comment"? What exactly does "Mod others" mean? Whenever I turn those two off for registered users, they are not able to vote anymore. Is it just me or are others having the same issues? Is it a bug or a feature? I'd be really glad if somebody could help me on this. Thanks! |

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I've already tried that. I'm sorry I didn't mention this before because I didn't know there were differences. But I'm currently using v1.0.8pl3.
And there are some several other issues, I'm afraid.
As I mentioned above, I really like your skript and the idea of it and I'm still interested in buying the pro version. But with all these little bugs it''s really difficult to use it as planned. I'd be glad if either your or somebody of your team could look into them. Thanks! |

Just a couple of things Having fun testing out the addon though.
I can't locate the area to rate my own reviews or rate others. I have those options turned on but I don't see where the area is in the actual reviews. I'd love to be able to add BB codes into these review categories and custom fields to make my reviews more dynamic. But seems they don't support bb codes at all. I have reviews that I would like to add Video PRO's to and Video CON's to. But the video bb code that is standard with VB is not supported here. Besides BB codes being recognized in things like the multiple check box would allow things like images to be used in the checkbox options rather than just plain old text. Giving reviews more flare and diversity. + to bb codes for all fields It would be really nice if the primary image would NOT show up in the gallery listing of the review body. Sometimes I use custom small images for my "Head Images" and I would not want to see that image alongside review images. Plus, my site is very video heavy when it comes to the media added to a review. It makes the reviews more personable and exciting but the videos get buried behind the "primary image" in the gallery. I have noticed a work around though while playing with the script that if I upload a Primary Image and then delete it the primary image still shows in the review body but disappears from the Gallery. + to hiding the primary image from the gallery as an option When a video is added to the review post via the add youtube link it shows up in the gallery as if its just another image. Especially if the gallery has several things listed. It would be nice to offer options to identify "VIDEOS" in the gallery and also options to possibly sort them so they can be easily accessed. + Gallery Identification and Sorting + This Mod could also really use a Image Upload Custom Field with size options + An option to "FEATURE" a review for a set time period would allow a user to showcase a particular review highlighted somewhere on the main page of the reviews. This option could be set either in AdminCP or right in the review itself. + An option to associate a review with a different user on the forums would be a nice addition. This would come in handy when reviews are posted in someone else's name and an admin wants to give credit where credit is due. + An option to promote a thread on the forums directly to a review would be great for admins that want to highlight great discussions on their forums that deserve special limelight. |

I am looking at some of your photos of the reviews and I noticed that one of them shows a car review with six category's of rating stars. So far I have not been able to get the single rating to work, they are all greyed out. Maybe I am missing something simple. But I have looked through almost all the software and I cannot find a section that allows me to add in multiple criteria for rating a product. How is this done?
Thanks |

Never mind I figured it out, although the system wording is a bit cryptic.

I may have a use for this product but I have a few questions if you do not mind
1) Does the system give the ability to review an existing product, meaning not start a new everytime. I do not see that in the OP? If it does, can the addition of the Product be Approve/Deny separately from the Review? It we can add product separately, can that be enabled/disabled per usergroup? 2) You say you can customize the questions, does the system allow for dropdowns and possibly 50 of them with different options in each dropdown, as an example. 3) I see we can upload a pic, can we upload more per product if that option is available above, not just the insert in the review? 4) Can we tell the editor to not allow uploading of pics in the editor? 5) I assume those widgets on the main page pic can be disabled, just checking? 6) Can the rating system, "Stars" be disabled or changed to a numeric 1 - 10 7) Can we add more then one type of rating, say we have 4 different things we rate on and each getting a rating of 1 thru 10 8) I have not read thru this entire thread, is this compatible with 4.2.2 Thank you for your time, I look forward to hearing from you |
