vBSSO - vBulletin Single Sign-On Details »» | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
vBSSO is a vBulletin plugin that helps you connect to different software platforms like content management systems, blogs, and online stores using a secure Single Sign-On
The system has two components. First, there?s a vBulletin plugin that creates an interface for authenticating, controlling access, and managing user profile data. The second component is plugins for other platforms (like WordPress) that teach it to talk to vBulletin and exchange data. Here?s a list of support platforms. Okay, I have a little more information for you. First, do not edit files with Notepad or any other form of text editor. It is free and highly recommended by professionals to use Notepad++. There are others that are available and free as well, such as Crimson Editor and Alleycode, or you may use Dreamweaver if you have that program. My first suggestion is to download Notepad++ from this link.
Now using your FTP client download LocalSettings.php from the root directory of MediaWili. After it is downloaded rename it LocalSettings_original.php Then open it in Notpad++. Remember that when you save it save it as LocalSettings.php and don't include the "_original" after it. The point of this is to have the original file in case you make a mistake. In Notepad++ at the top of the file after <?php the opening tag place this code: Code:
//vBBSO code start require_once( "$IP/extensions/vbsso/vbsso.php" ); //vBSSO code finish Now I'm not 100% sure but in your MediaWiki you should see a folder called vBBSO. Open it and you should see something called "Special Pages". Download that to your computer, open it with Notepad++ and you should see your shared key and URL to place in vB. Let me know if you run into any problems, I may be able to help you out. |

(layman terminology) vB database: Users vB database: vBBSO Users WP database: Users WP database: vBBSO Users But the two databases are not connected. Answer me this question. On your host when you uploaded mediawiki did you create a new database? I'll look at the installation instructions real quick. |

No problem, hopefully you will not have any issues. MediaWiki and vB use two separate databases, and I have found a couple of bridges for them, but not one that compiles the two databases. Use this and test it out. If it is not what you want, then you may ask in the open forums. I found another bridge, but the developer seems to not support it any longer.
Edit: I know about combining databases because I use to have a store that shared a database with vB. It doesn't work any longer because of updates to the store and to vB. So I just did a little customizing using BBCode to link the two together. |

Where is this taking place? Logging in via vBSSO, MediaWiki, the forum? I need a little more information before I can help you out.
