Function
This will display the members of the Bulletin Board based on their lattitude and longitude coordinates on a googlemap.

NOTE:
VBGooglemap 3.0.0 contains the vulnerability fix. Please upgrade immediately. Version 3.0.0. also contains all features from 2.5.X

As always you use modifications at your own risk.

VBGooglemap Member Edition 2.5.1 brings you a lot of new features. It?s vital that you uninstall any previous version before upgrading/installing version 2.5.1.

Upgrading from version 2.5.0 is easier. Instruction are available in the guide.

As the uninstall function will not remove your googlemap data in the database but only the templates and files you can safely remove an older version. As a precaution you should always take a backup. This should be done on each major change you make to your bulletin board.

IF YOU ARE RUNNING VERSION 1.0.3, 2.0.X AND YOU CHANGED TEXT DIRECTLY IN THE TEMPLATES YOU NEED TO SAVE YOUR CHANGES AS VERSION 2.5.0 REQUIRES YOU TO UINSTALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS.

This has taken quite some work and still will take a lot more. Please give credit where credit is due. You cannot remove any notice without prior written permission.

Volume warning

high volume of users may slow down the load. Currently a load counter is included.

Languages

Thanks to Wachtmeister there is a German translation available to you all. Feel free to use it.

The translation will be updated on each new version.

Special

- Read the attached PDF for more information. The pdf is also included in the zip file.
- You'll need a googlemap key for your domain. Get your own key for your domain view http://www.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html for more information.
A googlemap key is only valid for a specific domain. You'll need a specific google account to create one.
All is explained on the googlemap link indicated above.
- Set the file permissions on the marker.xml file to 777
- The googlemap script can handle non-registered users. They will only see the main map and won't be able to enter information. This is reserved for logged in users (detected automatically)
- usergroup permissions are available in the backend
- To change location just drag the map while holding the left mouse key or by using the zoom and key functions on the left
- First time loading of the map may take a few seconds longer because of Google API hosting

Hey ConqSoft - Thanks.... I actually revalidated that I uploaded them into the right place and I even went so far as to create a ./forums/images/buttons/ directory since all of my forum stuff is in the root directory. Any other ideas?

Anyone know how to add locations. Not for a user. But to have the buttons show up as " hot spots" ie: bar/club/bowling alley.. etc ?

OK, i did a search on this thread with multiple variances on user info changes, additions, etc........ found nothing. And now i've gone through the first 15 pages of threads and not found the answer i'm looking for, only requests.

Is there a post in here somewhere that addresses adding additional user information to the info that pops up when you click on a balloon? Sorry to not sift through the entire thread myself, just thought if someone remembered off the top of their head if this was addressed yet or not, it might save me some time and patience, lol.

Stony, I hate to bug you but in order to add the sidebars to my site from vBadvanced I have to add this snippet of code to the very top:

Do you have any ideas as to why? The map is the only thing that doesn't load - yet it works fine when I don't have that snippet of code in.

I'm quite perplexed .

I've since been forced to remove that snippet of code - if you need, I'll add it back in later for "debugging."

I posted this "balloon not popping up in IE problem several weeks ago and have patiently been waiting for something......anything. I am sorry if I sound like a little whining kid here. I AM aware that it is my priveledge to download your hack, and not my right to have it. You were VERY generous to share it on this board... it's just such a great hack, I feel likea kid in a candy store with his hands tied behind his back and tape on his mouth LOL....

To Lance and any others here who have been experiencing the problem with the balloons not showing when clicking on the markers in IE, I found a fix for my forum by going through one by one and disabling my recently added plugins... I found when I disabled vB Pager, my Googlemap marker balloons started showing up again in IE. So if you have vB Pager installed that might be what's causing the problem with this extension.

I'm so happy as I was just about to disable this extension and I really do love it. I'm going to give up vB Pager (temporarily anyway), so that my Googlemap still works until this conflict can be worked out anyway.

Anyway, hope that helps someone here too.

I don't have vB Pager installed but the problem with IE is the same as your.
Anyone fix that in another way?
