DownloadsII

DownloadsII is a download database that integrates into vBulletin. It allows you to upload files, add images to them, create categories, link to external files - and more. It is very flexible and has many options.

It's also coded 100% XHTML 1.0 Transitional valid, just like vBulletin itself.

Instructions & Support

Requires vBulletin 4.0.4 or higher. Not fully compatible with lower vB 4 versions.
It works fine with both the new editor in vB 4.1.4 or higher and the old one in previous vB versions.

Read the instructions in the next two posts before installing/upgrading this mod!

You can find an installation/upgrade manual in the zip package (Readme.txt).

I try to answer most questions asked in this thread. Please don't send any pm's if I don't ask for them. Don't forget to click the install link, so you will receive important update notifications.

Screenshots & Live demo

At the bottom of this post, you can find some screenshots of the front-end and back-end (AdminCP part) of the DownloadsII software.

You can find a live demo on my own site: Minatica.be Downloads (Dutch).
Though keep in mind that we are running a restyled and modified version of it.

Changelog (version 6.0.9)

Jelle
  • Added support for vB 4.1.8 bit processing with 'each' construct (backwards compatible)
  • Fixed comma listing for vB 4.1.8 (using "old" method)
Older changelogs are included in the zip package.

Help!!! I can't upload large files??

This is probably the most asked question. It's mostly caused by some default PHP settings: check "PHP Max Post Size" and "PHP Maximum Upload Size" at your AdminCP home.

Then have a look at this post for the solution to up these values.
Also have a look at this post at vB.com (but ignore the MySQL part as DownloadsII is only using the file system).

Author ≠ Uploader

You can change the uploader by editing a file (Assign New Uploader).
Could you perhaps be a little more specific with regards to editing the file. Where would I find the file and what parts would I edit and what would I edit them with?

Sorry to be a pain, bit of a newb. Would be much appreciated. xx

He is referring to the file listing in DownloadsII. You can edit them like you edit posts in a forum.

I am noticing that attached images are not being deleted when the user deletes them from the listing. Is this normal behavior or a bug?

tedThank You RS.

Upgraded successfully - that I can see.

With regard to the folowing in the side columns, On my old "Downloads" they were each on seperate lines with a space (return carriage) between each one, but on the new version, they are side by side in a continuous row and then over to the next line...

How would I seperate these like they were on the old downloads please?
  • Latest Files
  • Most popular files
  • Top Contributors

The above sections along with the
  • Important Information
were aligned on the left on the old DownloadsII version too, is that not possible on the new version, Please? No problem, if not.

The new location for the Navigation is going to take some time to get used to too.

Oh, One last thing, If I may, Please?..

The "Downloads" tab on the forum home. Would it be possible that you could explain to me if and how I can add a word to the side of it please?

Many Thnaks for the porting of your great mod, and for any help you can give me (And others) on the above.

I will be making a donation soon.

Best Wishes,

Welshy2008.

Nominated too!

great addon... been using it for a couple of years.

Just upgraded our forums to VB 4.0 and have gotten to the downloads upgrade.

I did the upgrade as described in the readme.txt file... no issues.

We have vbAdvanced installed on the site, but I should have the downloads.php file not integrated so that it doesn't cause issues.

When I go to the downloads link: http://www.clan-tlb.com/forum/downloads.php the layout is all wonky. Any ideas?
We are running vb 4.0.2 and the latest downloadsII version.

For some reason, I cannot see the admin area of the downloads section. Is there somewhere I am not looking? When I updated everything I did it the same way I always do and still don't see it.

Please help me, I am looking for the rebuild section of the downloads.

That's:

downloads.php?do=manfiles

I no longer see that button, I had to search the code in the downloads.php to get there.

Hello Kad,

Please see the attachment for a screenshot.

You need the "Manage Files".
