Force Users to Read a Thread



About this hack:
This hack allows you to set a thread as 'must read' by your members. Right now, if you make a post and want all your members to read it, you have no way of enforcing it. This hack will give an error message similar to the one you get when you need to change you password, saying that the admins want you to read a certain thread before they continue using the forum.

Once a user reads a thread, they wont be bugged to read it again.

You can set all usergroups or just certain onces that must read a thread.

You can set to site wide or just some forums.

Option to Force Guests

This hack added one query to every page on your forum a member goes to.
  • Files edited: 0
  • Templates edited: 0
  • Files to upload: 3 (1 via ACP, 2 via FTP)
  • Time to install: 1 minute

  • Added link in "Administrative" drop down on the showthread page to edit force read settings.

Added this and well, I grabbed the thread id from url and it all was good. I saved it and nothing appeared in the threads that I've forced members to see?

Hab die vB3 und bekomme ständig eine info das eine Neue Version da ist was nicht stimmt bitte ändere das!

If you are on the thread already, you wont get forced to read it if you are on it.

Not working on 4.0.3 PL1. When I add a thread to be force viewed, it doesn't show up in the Admin CP.

Does for me, it just won't effect the usergroup on the forums, they are not getting any force read message. Can anyone confirm this is working on the latest 4.0.3 PL1?

I've got it working on latest 4.0.3 PL1...no issues at all.
