I think I am going to buy it then integrate it further.
I hope that Mary will reconsider sometime in a future release to give the ability for people to customize their own pages like Zoints. Like you, I am seriously considering purchasing her script.
Forum Integration Tutorial
We also know that many of you are waiting for a phpBB/vBulletin forums integration plugin. After much research, we've decided to release this as an tutorial (instead of an official plugin). This is because many of you have different forum setups (with various modifications, servers, etc.) which makes creating a single solution quite difficult. Our tutorial will give you very simple step-by-step instructions for integrating your phpBB or vBulletin forum into SocialEngine.
SocialEngine (Paid)
At first glance this seems the most advanced solution. SocialEngine promises a forum integration tutorial for vb coming in early 2008. Since SocialEngine is so complex, I wonder how well a do it yourself integration will be, but the news is certainly exciting.
vbulletin 3.7 will soon be released and will contain basic profile enhancements and social groups. (Social Networking)
The S.N. part of vb 3.7 almost forces administrators to get a blog as well. (In a good way) But currently the Jelsoft vb blog does not provide the same functionality as other software. (Wordpress and vblogetin) I find this logical since Jelsoft vb blog is quite new. I really hope that Jelsoft will give enhance their blog enough to buy their blog instead of other software.
vs-profiles seems well intergrated, but very basic in features.
I have added Joovili, because it was listed as having vbulletin intergration, in another thread here. I have contacted Joovili, requested more information on their vbulletin intergration and alerted them to this thread.
Edit: there is no supported intergration. I have asked Joovili to consider creating one.
I have also contacted phpfox about their intergration and they replied that they do have a working intergration hack, although they know of members that have problems with this. So it seems like a possibility for those with good knowledge of php/vbulletin, but not for noobs. Many people find Zoints local not suited because it makes your site automaticly to other sites. This is also one of the reasons, why I am searching for other options.
The myspace profile rewrite is the one I am currently using, but am very unhappy about as it once bundled many other hacks which are no longer active. Without them much is lost. And besides that I'd like more functionality and had a hard time to get it running right. Which it still doesn't.
I use phpfox with VBulletin integration. I found the integration to be really easy and straight forward. I know of people who have had issues though
