What does this modification do?
This modification will allow you to automatically have more search engine friendly URLs in your vBulletin. A forum which would normally display as forumdisplay?f=1 will now appear as f1-forumtitle.html and the same with threads. Having keywords in your URL can be of an advantage in search-engine ranking.
Requirements:
You must have mod_rewrite apache module enabled on your server. Contact your host for more information.
This will not work well for non-english boards as it strips most non-alpha numeric characters. E.g. ? would be stripped on french boards etc

Ok Dean you right,
I have missed /forum in .htaccess file, but that is only one I missed from your instructions.
It is too late and I see "forum" everywhere :-)
I am still getting error:
The requested URL /home/www/blabla.com/www/forumdisplay.php was not found on this server.
I have seourl.php on right place (forum root) also forumdisplay.php. Isnt there a problem with missing number of forum after forumdisplay.php? Reguralery it would show forumdisplay?id=xx

I can't do anything unless your site is online and the plugins are active. If you don't want to run this on a live site then say, and i'll exclude you from the private beta. But I need this online for the weekend so I can run tests.

Dean, ok it is live now!
I just wanted to be sure that there is not my mistake involved in install .-)
I also want to make sure about "root directory":
- after my ftp connection i will get to the directory with folder "www". Index page and all script has to be put in this folder ... for exemple: www/index.html is for hompage of my domain. Relative url is /home/www/mysite.com/www/.
As I understand your instructions you are saying
Quote:
3/ Upload the .htaccess file to your forums root directory.
than I have put .htaccess to "www/" which I supposed to have as "forum root"
Just in case I have copied .htaccess also to my ftp root (but nothing has changed). If this harm, I will delete one of them, tell me which one .-)

If i go through quick links and try Today's post, i will get the list with threads.
Urls of threads are rewritten but not accessible also...
Urls of threads from forumhome are accessible but not rewritten...
Please help, because 80% of my forum is not accessible.
The number is used to get the correct forum. Otherwise, you'd have to search your forum names and find a precise match. Then pull the number and show it. If you have dupe forum names, you have a problem.
Bah could you make this is a feature for the next version please, eh Dean?
