What is Copyright Management?
Copyright Management from DragonByte Tech is a modification designed to merge all copyright footers from DragonByte Tech mods into a single line shown on all pages.

New in v2.0, you can also choose to compress the list of mods to a single link back to DBTech which will display a list of all the products you have installed.

What does 'Marking As Installed' do ?

* It helps you to stay on top of updates - members who have installed modifications will be notified by us whenever new updates are available.

* For security issues - vbulletin.org will contact all members who have installed a modification whenever a security issue is brought to their attention.

* Marking a modification as installed also helps us know how many people are using our work, giving us extra incentive to provide more features and new modifications.

Feature List

• Merges copyright footers from DragonByte Tech mods into a single line

This mod merges the copyright notifications of all DragonByte Tech mods in the footer of all pages which includes:

• 1 Link to DragonByte Technologies homepage
• EITHER 1 Link to Product Description page of each modification merged, OR 1 link to a "Details" page on DBTech listing all your installed DBTech modifications

Its up to each and every addon author to do what they want with their addons, which includes (if they want) show a copyright on every page. Hell I'm pretty outspoken about this sort of thing: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...81#post2026781

However, DBTech makes it clear up front about EXACTLY how the addon will display the copyright.

If you want to do the same thing, go for it, I don't think anyone is going to stop you.

There are no rules, or laws, or anything else about this. If the addon author DEMANDS that when you use their software, you must display their copyright, that is their choice. Your choice as an end user, is to use it, or not.

Your choice as a rival addon coder is to do the same, or do your own thing.

This is completely untrue. vBulletin.org currently runs a custom version of vBulletin 3.6 with lots of modifications (file/plugins). Paul M, could have fixed any issues on his own on vBulletin.org without breaking a sweat if that was an actual issue.

vBulletin 3.5+ should run on php 5.2 just fine.
vBulletin 3.8.5+ runs on PHP 5.3 just fine
vBulletin 3.8.8 runs on php 5.4.

Now I can tell you for a fact we're not currently running php 5.4, even if we were, paul could apply patches, or make changes to the system as required.

3.8.8 was released for customers who needed php 5.4 support and want to remain on 3.x. Nothing more, nothing less. I actually pushed really hard to get a 3.8.8 released, and vBulletin.org was never a thought in my mind.

If you don't like a mod, don't use it. This mod breaks no vBulletin.org rules. Personal issues should be taken to PM or off site.

Users have to make up their own mind if they want copyright notices on every page.

I thought I had already made our position clear on it, but let me clarify for your benefit: As stated, we absolutely consider this fair play. We have no issue with other coders having global copyright links which show up on pages generated by our modifications and have never tried to hijack one of their threads to complain about it either.

We believe all users should have the choice of what copyright footers they choose to display on THEIR websites. If they wish to use a mod that requires a global footer, we feel they are well within their rights to do so, and we do not attempt to tell them what other mods they can or cannot use alongside our own.

As long as another modification is not interfering with/deleting our copyright or the functionality of our work we have 0 issues with it. We would certainly never attempt to publicly derail a coders thread simply because we disagree with his copyright terms. We feel that is petty and, to quote you, not "fair play".

Please refrain from trying to hijack any more of our topics with your attacks, there are other areas of vbulletin.org (or your own/our own site) more suited for it that won't disrupt the experience of users simply trying to post about our copyright management mod.

This is supposed to be a support thread for which dragonbyte attends to this and no one else.. last time i looked it said supported in first post ...

i might not like how this redirects to db as i have said but the db team is a hell of a group that takes care of all there member base here and on their site when you make suggestions they listen for the most part ... i agree that all the coder to coder nonsense should be taken behind scenes lets get back to the support of this mod which is why this thread is here in the first place ....

This is complete and utter tripe.
For starters, vb.org runs on vb3.6.x, not 3.8.x, so what use would 3.8.8 be to us
If you want to be taken seriously, dont make up utter rubbish.

I think it is real simple. DB puts forth a huge effort in coding and making these mods. I for one have purchase the PRO version of everything we use. On top of it I also buy the branding free. At this point I probably could have just purchased the global branding free and saved some $$$ but in all honesty I would rather just spend the extra $$$ and support these guys as they are one of the few coders left that are putting out quality modifications.

I totally agree with you Hostboard, they make some of the best mods for dB. I do think, however, that the 'global' notice should show on all default vB pages. There are not even that many. That would be fair to DBT and to other developers who also create mods that have new, custom pages with nothing to do with DBT mods. Just MHO.

Now if I could just get this mod to work...

What version of vBulletin are you running? It exists in vB 4.2.1
