Article Forums v4.x for vBulletin v4.x

Demo | Version History

Turn a forum into an article forum. Sub-forums are turned into categories.

• Posts/Articles show in searches & in new posts
• Create as many sub-forums/ categories as you need
• Follows forum permissions
• Can still rate thread, etc.
• Different postbits for article and replies (comments)
• Choose what to display in postbit for article and comments
• Choose what to display on articles in vBulletin Options

* Not compatible with 3.7.x forums *

Installation:

1. Upload articles.php
2. Import product file
3. Create a forum in admincp
4. Go to vBulletin Options->Article forum Options

Remember to click Mark as Installed to receive updates and support

Possible Future Additions:

• Make article collapsible
• Allow multiple article forums

Only problem with that is, if anyone uses the word "articles" in a post anywhere on your site, that'll get replaced too.

ack - then what I should have done? I can go back and change it - I'm working in a test style right now

In the Admin - under Styles & Templates -> Replacement Variable Manager

Then: enter "articles" for the search and then whatever name you want it changed to in the "replace" box

Then you need to also rename the .php file that you originally uploaded from articles.php to newname.php (be sure and also pay attention to "case")

Go to Languages and Phrases -> Search in Phrases -> search for "article" and only search in "article forum"

lookin good so far - the "show printable version" does not work - and when it's clicked it creates an error on the page (at the bottom of IE):

I am currently testing this in my admin forum, and I like the concept and they way it works.

Although my printable version works fine,...

I noticed the main articles page, using the fieldset version, the center column has trouble aligning the thumbnails with the text for a post, when the next following article has a thumbnail, it appears embedded within the first. Hard to explain really, hopefully that is close to understand.

Also, the bbcode and contents should be stripped out of the main page snippet I think, as if you have an image or link in the article, the snippet on the main page does not parse the bbcode and just shows the link or image source text. Havent tried it with other bbcodes yet.

Gotta say, I think this mod is awsome, and hope to see it polished further.

first of all, my english is bad

i want to explain my problem. i installed this addon and it?s very god work!

when the last postings are first in the vbulletin, there are a problem. because the news are in a wrong place and the last commentare are in the place where the news have to be...

i hope someone understande me

another thing I'd love to see is the article "rating" underneath the author's name or somewhere in that particular article.

i don't know if this is it or not; but did you try;

VB Options > Article Forum Options > Default Sort Order

I know i typically have my personal options set to view newest items at the top; and if it inherited my personal options it would have don that.
