Thread Prefixes
Version: 1.6.2 vBulletin Version: 3.6.10 Developer: Michael (Mystics) Koenig (www.vbulletin-germany.com) Modification-Language: English & German & French (thanks to ReadWrite - Note: Readme has not yet been translated to french.) Install-difficulty: Medium File-edits: 5 Template-edits: 10 Brief Description of the Modification This modification allows your users to choose a thread prefix for each thread. To do this you are able to select an appropriate prefix from a list beside the title while posting a new thread - for example 'Help', 'Problem', 'Search' etc. This prefix will be displayed in front of the thread title. The result will be for example: Problem - I can't find this setting Problem is the thread prefix, I can't find this setting is the title of the thread. The prefixes displayed in this list may be defined by a moderator for each of his moderated forums (Forum Tools -> Manage Thread Prefixes); of course an administrator and a super moderator is allowed to do this for every forum. Tested for version: 3.5.0 (and above). Note: If you have used the Thread Category / Prefix Hack in vBulletin 3.0.x, don't worry: all existing prefixes will be imported during the installation. You just have to re-do your thread prefix settings in your vBulletin Options. Update Product

Since the add-on Change prefixes inline totally wrecks inline moderation (since July 3) for vb 3.7pl1 and 3.6.8, and since this add-on is so vital, can you please consider adding this functionality to your hack? Milad has not responded for quite a while now. |

I gave you this info by PM as well, but as it may be handy to others, I'll repost it:
I have installed this add/on 2 times. The first time something went wrong, I broke my vbulletin and my site was down for some time. I did find a solution for this, that works very quick, easy and safe: 1. If you are not on vbulletin 3.6.8, then upgrade now. 2. Edit the .php files according to the instructions in prefixinstall.php 3. Upload the .php files 4. Install the Template Modification System ( easy to do and you'll be very happy with it) 5. Instead of going using the thread prefix its 'prefixinstall.php' further than step 1, use the Template Modification System instead: simply upload the templateedits-threadprefix.xml that you will find in the demo folder of the Template Modification System's zip. That's it. Instead of 30 minutes installation time, you will now have it installed in 30 seconds. (not counting the short installation of the TMS) |

Interestingly I have tried to install this and I am getting the quickreply, smilie and edit screen issues.
I have.... reverted the php files to original reverted the templates to original uninstalled the product. ...and everything works as normal. I reinstalled everything verbatim. Made the changes to the files through notepad and uploaded them and I am still getting the same issues with quick reply, smilies and edit features. Any ideas? yes, I have read the thread. this is a clean install of vb 3.6.8 with only template modifications. TIA |

First, thanks a lot for making this mod. It will really help me a lot.
However when installing on a vB 3.6.7 your installation guide isn't 100% correct. I think it was for editpost, new thread and such templates where I'll have to search for some string containing an input for the title. For these inputs you have specified a value for maxlength of the inputs, while my default templates has specified a variable instead, so I'm able to change this trough my vBulletin Options. Also, is it possible to add so that users can choose multiple prefixes for a thread? This would make your mod even better Regards, Bigfoot |

I have exactly the same problem, on 3.6.4 (patched) and I can't find a solution to solve it (I double check my templates edits..)
Thanks! Quote:
