This is a hack that will add icons to your forum categories on the forum home page.
History: I was the originator of this hack back in the vBulletin 1.x days and continued this in vb 3.7.x. I have had numerous requests to port this to vb 4.x.x so here you are. Please click install if you want support for this mod and to encourage me to continue adding features! Enjoy! You can find nice icons here, here and here. Thanks to LatinoCheats for this link. Changelogs: 1.2.0:
1.2.1:
1.2.2:
1.2.3:
1.2.4:
2.0.0
Upgrades: For those upgrading just make sure when you import the product you select "Allow Overwrite". You will also need to revert your templates (only for users of version 1.2.2 or earlier) and then follow the instructions as outlined in the install.html file. Note: Before you ask, yes this works with all browsers. (Tested on FF, IE8, IE7, Chrome, Safari and Opera) IMPORTANT! If you use the "Auto Template" feature of this mod and it doesn't work then you MUST do the manual template edits outlined in the install.html. This plugin was created using a default vbulletin style. If you like this mod than please nominate for "MOTM". Donations are gladly accepted! Download Now

Ah that did it. Thank you. Now here is a question can I make some different sizes that others? Some I want a longer banner and some I want just a short picture. Also can I make it go after the words of that forum?

The icons are working well for me in Firefox, Chrome and Opera. However, they shift to the left and look choppy in IE. An example of IE8 is included .
Anyone else have this problem and is there a quick css fix? |

Looks to me like a skin issue. It works fine in IE7 and IE8 on the default skin for me.

@Boofo - I basically copied the default skin to create a new skin and have been changing background colors in the stylevar settings. In addition, the original vBulletin standard icons still show fine using IE in the subforums where I haven't yet added an icon so I'm perplexed as to why changing the icon would cause a viewing issue particularly when all other browsers work perfectly (IE always seems to have some css standards issue!). I'll keep searching online but if anyone has any ideas let me know. I would hate to think I'm the only one having IE issues given I've only modified background colors in the stylevars.

Try playing with the "Category Icon Positioning" setting and see if that helps. Also, I don't have the sidebar enabled on my site so that may have something to do with it in IE.

Once I adjust the positioning settings to move the icons to the right, IE looks ok but the browsers that work properly are now unaligned. Plus, I'm not sure why the icons look "gritty" in IE but look fine in all other browers. From my experience seems like their is some CSS setting that needs to be added for IE, but just not sure why or what I've done in configuration that is giving me this issue (but no one else).
