Ever wonder how big forums and boards like ESPN, Warrior Forum, Digital Point and others started. At one point or another they did what some people call ?Fake it till you make it.? Every massive board has done this at one point or another to while they were just getting started. Its? called social proof. If other ?people? are on the forum, then they want to join in too. But if no one uses the forum, or appears to be using the forum, no one will join.

The fact is, forum work is extremely tedious to start off with. Its? like building a snowman. At first, the snowball takes time to get round, and get big. But once it is big, and you continue to roll it, it just gets? bigger and bigger. And you can stop using fake stats at that point.

So what does Fake Stats do for vBulletin?
Everything! It shows:

Lite Version

• Fake member count
• Fake user count
• Fake date
• Fake registered usernames on vBulletin ?Whats? going On?
• Fake # of thread count
• Fake # of posts count
• Fake time of greatest number of users online
• Ability to show as many fake usernames in whats? going on

Notes:
Its' extremely powerful as long as you dont go overboard and make outrageous claims about your forum. Without saying where this is deployed on some client sites, it is extremely effective
in making the site look a lot more active and creating a feeling of active environment.

Any forum owner KNOWS that its key to have an active looking forum to get the forum to be MORE active. In the end, if no posting is going on the forum, this plugin will not help. It compliments an active admin.

I think if you replace "face" with "fake" it makes some sense, he doesn't like a product that makes fake stats.

The comments I'll add are:

The mod doesn't work correctly. It generates php errors and half of the admincp options display "error" instead of the settings option.

The mod is unsupported. The developer is nowhere to be found. He hasn't been here in nearly six months and his own website is offline.
