Integration with vBulletin - Toksta Chat Integration

Steps to Install:-

1. Register an account with toksta - Add Application (Add Site) - Select Free Plan - Note the App ID and App Password

2. Upload toksta_controller.html to the root of your domain. The file must be available through www.your-domain.com/toksta_controller.html afterwards.

3. Import the Product -> go to vBulletin Option Settings -> Instant Toksta Chat -> enter your App ID and App Password and Enable the product.

4. Edit your footer template and add this at the very end:-

Steps to Uninstall:-

1. Uninstall the Product.

2. Remove the Toksta Chat code from the footer template that you added in Step 4.


Pros:- Looks cool, can bring some fun | No bandwidth, server usage as everything is hosted on their server.

Cons:- Not for everybody as it may bring down forum activity | Currently only Mozilla Firefox is supported but they are constantly upgrading their code so all browsers should be supported very soon.


FAQ:-

a) Should work for all 3.X version of vBulletin.
b) To disable chat for certain usergroups, simply edit the conditional part in the Step 4 code. Also note that I have already disabled chat for Guests and Banned usergroup (1 and 8).
c) If the chatbar doesn't show up - Make sure you have enabled the product (its disabled by default), and confirm your App ID and App Password.
d) About load - just 1 small global plugin, 0 queries.
e) Don't ask for a Demo please as I don't have one. It would take a minute to install this and test yourself.
f) Also check out the paid plans at their site if you are interested in a lot of customizations and higher limits. Free plan is very basic but sufficient for most of us.

Toksta now support integration with vbulletin officially. SO BETTER USE THEIR VERSION INSTEAD OF THIS.

I've only 23 online when if fact theres 100? or just it just do it for a "live" environment

If your members are not connected to the instant messenger it will class them as being offline.If you have added friends via usercp
they will show when that person comes online..The ones you can't see are either not added to your friends list,or not connected to the instant messenger.

What is the difference between a friend and a contact?
A friendship is a mutual, two-way relationship between two users. It is initiated by one user and accepted by the other.
A contact is a one-way friendship. This could be where the other person does not accept the friendship, a friendship request is pending, or you do not wish to be friends at this time but want to show them as a contact only.
Where is list of friends and contacts displayed?
Your friends and contacts are displayed on the 'Contacts and Friends' page in your User CP. Your friends are also displayed in your profile page.
How can I request a friend, accept a friend or break a friendship?
There are two ways to request a friendship with someone.
The easiest way is to view the profile page of the person you want to become friends with and click the 'Befriend' link.
The other way is to add the person to your contacts first. Then from your 'Contacts and Friends' page ask to be their friend by checking the box next to their name labelled 'Friend'. Next, save the page.
If you know the username of the person you want to be friends with you can send a friend request using the box provided and clicking 'Add Friend'.
To accept a friend, go to your 'Contacts and Friends' page. At the bottom of the page you will see a list of pending requests. Check the box for the requests you wish to accept then check the 'Accept' button and save the changes. If you do not wish to be friends then select 'Reject' instead.
Breaking a friendship can be done in three ways.

* From your 'Contacts and Friends' page, uncheck the box for friend for the particular person and save the changes. If you no longer wish them to be a contact either, uncheck both boxes for that person.
* In your 'Profile Page', click 'Friends' and then click 'Break Friendship' next to the user's name.
* In the other person's profile, click 'Friends' then find your username and click 'Break Friendship'.

Why cant they make a footer chat that works directly with vBulletin with friends etc.. auto login etc... just like facebook that we can HOST on our own server? I would buy that, i dont want to have no control over the chat and on top of that have the chat go down and nothing i can do. I would rather HOST the chat on my own. When will this ever be offered?
