[high]Staff Edit/Update[/high]
I have released an updated version of this hack (version 2.0.1), this version fixes some security issues with this hack. All version prior to this one allow users to insert html in their shouts, this can cause problems with them using html that breaks the site layout or malicious javascript. Download the new zip file (vBshout_fixed.zip) and upload the new vbshout.php file to patch/upgrade. If you want to manual instructions they are in the zip file, in the file bugfixes.txt
Second Staff update
I've uploaded a new version of this hack, dubbed '2.0.2'. This one should fix the html injection issues without breaking special characters. To upgrade, download the new zip file and upload the new vbshout.php file.
Please note that this only fixes the html injection issues. I do not use this hack on my own forum (although I've tested this on a client's board) so I will not be fixing the server load issues. I suggest you do not install this hack if you can't deal with the extra server load, as it's rather intensive.

I am working on a new style and the vbshout is messing up the layout. Where or what do you do to revove the vbshout from the style?
Its a new style that was not made parent to anything else. I want to leave it in the default style so do not want to remove it completely. Just want to offer members another style if they do not want the shout box.
Some people have problems with german and greek characters in vbshout. I already wrote what the problem is: mod_security.
What i did was to write a .htaccess in the root with following phrases:
<IfModule mod_security.c>
SecFilterEngine Off
</IfModule>
After this .htaccess, vbshout worked correctly with german characters like ä, ü, ö!
It worked untill some "bad guys" tried to hack my board last night because mod_security was set to "off".
Now my question is: how to get mod_security work with vbshout? Which file is making troubles with mod_security? Is it vbshout.php in the root or is it vbshout.html in the map "sb"?
Is it possible to set mod_security to "off" only for these files and not to the whole vBulletin?
oh got it after reading through stuffs around here .. short note to those who have the same problem: it is in Admin CP -> Vbulletin Options (vbShout is a sub)
hey bro...thanks for this...click install and nominate already....but one thing i want to ask...try to find if someone ask this already but can't found it....how do i set some...like changing smilies, user legend colors and removing time shout...and also the shoutbox size....please advice and thanks again bro....
I really wish there was a system that automatically removed, say, shouts older than 2 months. I had to go in my database and run a query to delete shouts from 2 years ago
