DownloadsII

DownloadsII is a download database that integrates into vBulletin. It allows you to upload files, add images to them, create categories, link to external files - and more. It is very flexible and has many options.

It's also coded 100% XHTML 1.0 Transitional valid, just like vBulletin itself.

Instructions & Support

Requires vBulletin 4.0.4 or higher. Not fully compatible with lower vB 4 versions.
It works fine with both the new editor in vB 4.1.4 or higher and the old one in previous vB versions.

Read the instructions in the next two posts before installing/upgrading this mod!

You can find an installation/upgrade manual in the zip package (Readme.txt).

I try to answer most questions asked in this thread. Please don't send any pm's if I don't ask for them. Don't forget to click the install link, so you will receive important update notifications.

Screenshots & Live demo

At the bottom of this post, you can find some screenshots of the front-end and back-end (AdminCP part) of the DownloadsII software.

You can find a live demo on my own site: Minatica.be Downloads (Dutch).
Though keep in mind that we are running a restyled and modified version of it.

Changelog (version 6.0.9)

Jelle
  • Added support for vB 4.1.8 bit processing with 'each' construct (backwards compatible)
  • Fixed comma listing for vB 4.1.8 (using "old" method)
Older changelogs are included in the zip package.

Help!!! I can't upload large files??

This is probably the most asked question. It's mostly caused by some default PHP settings: check "PHP Max Post Size" and "PHP Maximum Upload Size" at your AdminCP home.

Then have a look at this post for the solution to up these values.
Also have a look at this post at vB.com (but ignore the MySQL part as DownloadsII is only using the file system).

Not at this moment, but it's on my long term todo list.

The actual downloads are in the manufacturer sub-categories, but I would like to show the total downloads at the top level, rather than "0" like it shows now.

i.e. http://www.musclecarmanuals.com/downloads.php

Thanks for your work on this, it's great!
A parent category should always show the total amount of files, including all sub-categories. That works fine on my test site
Did you move any categories?

Try Manage Files -> Update Counters for recalculating them.

Your downloads.php script is trying to get the ecdownloads phrasegroup, which was removed in v6. This means that you still have the old files on your FTP. You have a v5 downloads.php (and other files).

Both the upgrade and install instructions say that you need to upload the content of the upload folder to your FTP.

Strange, I will look into this. It should work as there's a Content-Length header being sent.

Thank you.
AdminCP -> Plugins & Products -> Plugin Manager -> Edit "DownloadsII: Add a Downloads tab" -> Set "Execution Order" to 7 -> Save

Thanks again for a great mod and great support.

If I may make a request... anyway to add a column and/or field for version# this would be awesome.

Of course if I could keep making requests my seconod request would be for another column labeled Machine Type (ya know for software that we could add Windows, Mac, Cisco, Linux, Joomla, vBulletin, etc..)

Just a wish list.. the ability to add versions would be the coolest and then machine type (of course n/a for documents etc.)

Sorry, I posted in this v3.8 of Downloads II by mistake.. I am full time vb4.0 now

AdminCP -> Languages & Phrases

It's in the downloads2 global phrase.

Did you set the "Usage of this extension" to be Image or Both?

Can you post a screenshot of one of those image extensions to be sure.

No I didnt thank you

One final question will the import script grab everything out of a specific folder ? If so are there any diresctions as I can seem to invoke it. Do I place in the path to the folder where the downloads that I want to list are housed?

I have quite a few to impport if thats what it is for.

Yes

Don't put in URL's (http://...), but absolute server paths. There's an example of your path given on the import page.
