I am licensed and am still having the problem. At this point I'm seriously considering putting up my licenses for sale unfortunately as all the hassles are just not worth it (including the long copyright requirement at the bare minimum)

It's not the product but other items. First let's talk about support here, vbulletin.org, et. al. I can't view any pictures or attachments because even though my email addresses are listed as requested, I can't be verified as a licenseholder for some odd reason. Whatever. I've had enough of the constant dealing with fixing this crap.
The copyright: Technically there shouldn't any problem with my board at all. But over the years I've found that several "enthusiasts" who have become part of vBulletin cannot help remind all of us little people (roflmao) that they are now associated with the King (I'll bet 1 in 100,000 people might have heard of vB) and must mention alleged copyright violations at every opportunity in their replies. Not only are private message not sent to license holders but there is such a big stink made out of such small issues. All the essentials are in there but now it is not according to their "letter of the law" for minimum display, which is longer than our other copyrights. Invisionboard allows much more flexibility and if I even don't want the copyright to display the total cost will be $350 compared to $800 or so (probably more now) that vBulletin is seeking.
As far as ease of use goes, I've found that most users who are not bbs savvy are confused by all the options that VB has put in there. Many don't care for the investment in time to learn how to use the board and the users really don't need most of the features.
7up i am sorry to hear that you are having problems with our license verifcation system, have you reported this on vBulletin.com or sent in a support ticket?
We also have a removal fee which is 120 USD, which applys one license not all, it was changed recently. The old way was 800 for all licenses that a single user held.
Please let me know if there is anything i can do to help make your expirence here better.
Is there another way. I am sure we are licensed. But I just am an admin not the owner of the site. I was asked to help with the templates. I wanna download the free styles for vb. so i can look at them from the inside. if i use any or modified any i would credit/link them.
You need to make sure you used the e-mail address you have your member account licensed with (say you used name@domain.com for your paypal account you bought vbulletin with, you need to use that e-mail on all the vbulletin official registration forms).
