This script will give you three options. It will be necesary to run this when upgrading from any version of vBGarage prior to 4.0.0.
You will run all three options in order, however any option may be run multiple times.
The first step adds the new phrases, settings and settinggroup to the database for the new option to limit access of full size images from guests. This step should be run first, but may be run multiple times safely.
The second option prepares the database for the thumbnails. vBGarage 4.0.0 now uses static compressed and resized thumbnails created as jpeg files. This step makes room in the database for them. This step should be run second, but can be run safely multiple times.
The third step creates the thumbnail images from the full size images already in the database and stores them in the new space we created in the database. This step should be run third, but may be run multiple times safely.
It is recomended that you upgrade to DB mode and test first before attempting to convert to FS mode. See the "Using vBGarage 4.0.0 converter" thread for more info.
Please post for help upgrading existing vBGarage installations to DB mode for 4.0.0 in this thread. (Everyone upgrading and existing vBGarage will be running this script.)

Quote:
[ INSTALL UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS FOR UPGRADING AN EXISTING vBGarage INSTALLAION DB MODE] (Leave images in database)
(Backup your database and close your forums!)
1. UPLOAD the provided vbgconfig.php file to your forums ROOT folder
Set $vbg_use_fs = 0; to use the script in database mode
This is the default so there's nothing to do.
2. UPLOAD "upgrade_vbgarage.php" to your forums/admincp folder.
4. Run the first option "vBGarage Upgrade - New Settings and Phrases"
5. Run the second option "vBGarage Utilities - Prepare DB for Thumbnails".
6. Run the third option "vBGarage Utilities - Create Thumbnails for DB".
(If you have alot of images in the DB this may be pretty intense on the server.)
6. Delete "upgrade_vbgarage.php".
7. UPLOAD "vbgarage.php" to your forum ROOT directory
and i didnt know if running that would mess up my pre-existing installation
in there it should mention uploading the installer file and running the second option.

unless i was just stupid in all that
Well I'm glad it worked out.
I'll double check my end and keep an eye out for if anyone else experiences this.
I tried moving my images from the db to the fs and it seems that only about half of the images show up. It did create all the images in a folder, but in the garage there are just a ton of them that are just a red X. I tried running things over and over again to see if it would create more thumbnails or fix the problem but no luck.
