i've just recently started getting this error probably once every 2 days or so.. only thing changed is the upgrade to mysql 4.0 - I'm guessing it has something to do with that.

I to started getting these errors and my host verified to me that they had upgraded the mysql server. I ran repair.php and everything seems to be fine so far.

You should probably post in the Troubleshooting forums at vB.com to see if the devs can reproduce the problem (problems with MySQL 4, which would suck considering what all MySQL 4 offers over 3).
