This a modified version of Mas*Mind's "World Time Zones" on index page, located at https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...hreadid=12210. Instead of including the data on the forum index, the times zones are listed on a standalone page and a graphic shows which time zone a user is in (thanks to
FireFly for helping me out with that feature). I've had this running on my site for about 4 months now but never bothered to release it until some people requested this in the original hack thread. This also works on 2.2.1 by the way. Show Your Support

Can anyone please help with adding the "odd" timezones, like +9:30 for Adelaide and Darwin or +5:30 for Bombay and Calcutta to the worldtimes.php page?

You know, this isn't a very active thread and it looks like any sign of support for this died off almost a year ago ...... but it still a nifty little hack. Thanks, Castel (and others) for coming up with this idea.
Thanks also to Boofo (yea, yea.. get over it ) for a few other ideas to customize it for our forum. A few formatting changes can really make a difference. Unfortunately, I'm a real dunce when it comes to thinking up this stuff on my own. So I could use a little help to add something we'd really want....... This display lists predominant cities, the date, and current time for every time zone around the world -- based on the UTC offset for each place that's selected by the member. What I'd like to do is show two columns of time for each zone ...... standard time and daylight saving time. I guess all we really have to do, in this case, is add or subtract one from the time variable already calculated in the php script? (Is that even close?) Then ........ given two times for each place for our members to look at, I could add text info below this table to give the daylight saving time start/stop dates for each country. That information is readily available online.... so that's easy. Could someone help out with the coding that would gives us a second time to add in another column? Thanks ..... as always, Talis. |

Oh darn. Does this mean I have to take back all the rotten things I've said lately? (That's not fair!!)
But, gee ... that would really make this nice. (Such a dilemma.) Okay. Here's the best site I've found for reliable information about Worldwide Daylight Saving. So from this, it would be easy to add this info below. (Ha! My part of this is real easy.) Or we could have the cities wrap to two lines and add 3 fields to each zone to show (hard coded) DST start and stop dates, along with the DST time. Then everything would be right there for each time zone and our members won't have to look this up at the bottom. I'm also curious as to whether we can show exclusions for places that don't observe DST.... maybe make that time a blank? And I don't know if we can do half hours...... But by editing the cities, we can work around the problem X-Fan was talking about. Just add a comment in the appropriate time zone to say, "Add 30 minutes Adelaide's time." |

PM me a list of the DST info for each listing in the hack. Also, give me some sort of idea on a layout you have in mind (also in PM). Give me a couple of choices and I'll see which one will work the best way.
P.S. You don't have to take back anything you said because it is all true, anyway. |

Will still get back to you on the DST options, Boofo. I wanted to find out what a few members think, first.
Meanwhile, I've figured out how to do some of the other stuff to make it look nice (globe, background, $timezone). But I don't know how to set the local zone's font color to red. Puzzled. |

Post a link to it and let's see what you have.

Ohh, so that's how this is....
You show me yours, so I gotta show you mine? (I probably should have expected that!) http://www.virtualcup.org/vcup/worldtimes.php |

Looks good (and familiar ), but you need to center the date and the globes under the Local heading. |
