I have a lynksys wireless router. Cost about $100. The gaming systems should all have wireless cards in them already... personally, I think that is the best way to go. If you move the gaming system to another computer, you will still have internet connectivity. I have the Wii. And I pretty much only use it to watch netflix or play mario cart. Really useless otherwise (yes, I regret getting it). Previous to that... I had the OLD Nintendo. So, needless to say, I wasn't really up on gaming systems. Went 15+ years with no gaming system.

I still have a PS1, from the days when they were calling it the PSX.

And that's all I've got. I would get a PS3 if I could afford it. I like some of the games for it and some of the games for the 360. I've never really been a console fan-boy. I take games case by case, but I do try to buy based on who has the more games I can get access to and that I actually want to play. That fluctuates from year to year.

And how fast of a connection do you need for Netflix to work reliably?
It's very simple to do. Just scroll to your network settings and set up a connection. Follow the onscreen instructions and use the default settings. Shouldn't take more than 2 minutes to set up. Wireless works just fine with the netflix set up or if you use any media sharing applications on your computer.

How do I set up a connection if I don't have anything hooked to the PS3 or the cable modem for it?

No, I have a cable modem hooked up to my computer is all. That is what I am asking. How do I hook up the PS3 for wifi on a wired cable modem that is across the room?

You can't, you'd need to add a Wireless Access Point (as opposed to a Wireless Router) to the network to use wifi. It's just that most cable modems these days seem to have wifi built in.

It's actually a 4 port router modem that I have hooked to the computer via an ethernet cable. So, what do I need to get to get the PS3 hooked to the internet? That was my main question before.

You can hook the PS3 via an ethernet cable just like the computer, that's actually a little better than wifi and how I have mine connected- you just need to run a cable from the router to the PS3.
