We are not allowed a test site on the internet without a license for it, you need to set-up a test site on localhost using something like xampp.

That's what I believed as well, this very issue was raised on .com, Steve said that we were not allowed to do it, a test site on the net will need a license. I figure it's safer not to take the risk really, I took down my internet test site just in case! Everythng we could do on a net test site can be tested on localhost so we don't lose anything, it's up to the individual if they want to take the chance.

You are allowed a test installation, but it must not be available to the public. A public test forum would need a licence.

Installing for a friend to test today, had to save a forum last night who tried to upgrade https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=1914110 it seems Fresh Installs are going very well but upgrades are not... please DISABLE all mods before proceeding with it!!

No one should be trying to upgrade a LIVE forum, thats just asking for trouble. Its a beta, not a stable release.

with a identical copy of my sites, then upgradeing local before doing it live. That way if a problem will occour, i know about it before i go live.. and by the time its going live, i would have worked around it aswell. But unfortunally getting alot of problems upgradeing my "identical" backup of backup. to 4.x and again fresh install is fine, but a hassle matching the db content from 3.8. But im sure the guys at vb will come up with something fun before the gold release. |
