that your showthread or postbit(_legacy) templates don't have the $ad_location variable in them.

They don't need to have an ad_location variable. The template is parsed automatically and added to the output.

I thought the $ad_location[ad_showthread_firstpost_start] was needed if they entered their code into the ad_showthread_firstpost_start template to display after the first post?

If I remove that code from my template it won't work, maybe variable isn't the correct word i was looking for then ?D:
