vBFriendsBrowser for vBulletin 3.7
---------------------------------- Created by Marius Czyz aka Phalynx. This mod will work *ONLY* with vBulletin 3.7 or higher. It will not run on vBulletin 3.6.x due to non existent feature of "friends". I don't plan to create this mod for vBulletin's 3.6.x Buddies. Description This small addition will show friends of a user in a circle-like view. The user is centered in the middle, all his confirmed friends are grouped around him. It's similar to vBulletin's own view, with the difference that all (currently max 33) friends are shown. You can click on a friend to see his friends. A click on the highlighted user brings you back to his profile. Demo http://www.insidesupcom.de/friends.php?u=1&langid=1 If there are requests regarding a social network feature I could include this. It would contain a view which would show over how many connections I know a particular guy. Installation/Upgrade This product has 1 additional file, is fully phrased and uses template hooks. No file changes or manual template edits needed. 1. Upload the file friends.php from "upload" to the root of your forum. 2. Import the main product History 1.0.0, 19th March 2008 - Initial Release 1.0.1, 11th April 2008 - Fixed a bug with custom avatar's revision (url cutted after "_") - Slightly changed visual view Show Your Support

I think this is a great concept! Good job. One suggestion I would make is to also allow people to visit a member's friends profile when they click on a friend as well as what you have (click on the username and it takes them to their friends). Make sense?

[QUOTE=Phalynx;1482261]Please explain more.
Thanks for the reply. I think the great thing about this mod is it shows who a member is connect to in a really cool way visually. But one problem is that when you click on the username of a memeber's friends, it brings them to that person's circle of friends. It is not that much of a problem, but I first assumed it would take me to that person's profile, not their circle of friends. I don't really have that much of a connection with a friends friend and the more you do it, the more disconnected you are from your original friend. While I think this is a great feature, I also think there should be a way to go to the profile of a friends friend in the circle instead of having to first click on their username, then click on the center of the page to go to their profile. Is that clear? |

Clear, yes. This behavior is by design. It's a friends browser. The default profile is already that way you want it: You click on a friend and get his profile.

Is it built for database driven attachments (avatars in this case) or will it also support the hard drive stored images (avatars)?
Because I switched from db to hard drive and the addresses look different and the mod does not display avatars properly. Mod calls for avatar images in the format avatar1_.gif when we have them in the format: avatar1_1.gif |
