Just to add to what Princeton had to say...

Don't have your content at 100% width. Fluid is good, but have other elements in your page to cut down on the size. The wider the content, the more eye strain, but that doesn't mean your content should be tiny. Have it at a comfortable width that is easy to read, yet involves little eye movement.
