Facebook Connect - Allow your users to login with their Facebook account (for 3.8)
Developer Last Online: Dec 2011
Staff Note: Moved to Graveyard - this will never work now that the old style facebook authentication is no longer available.
Facebook Connect This add-on allows your guests and existing users to login with their Facebook account through Facebook Connect. There is NO NEED to upgrade or reinstall if you already installed this mod for 3.7 Upgrade to 2.0.6 so that users with the new super long IDs will be able to login. This mod conflicts with PhotoPost vBGallery! Quick fix: Disable the following PhotoPost vBGallery plugins:
Benefits of Facebook Connect
Facebook users will be able to receive Facebook notifications when:
Fetch data like name, location, profile picture and use it on your forums! (NOTE: Some data may not be available for some users) Automatically befriend user's friends If any of the user's friends are also registered on the forum, they will automatically be friends! Professional Install/Upgrade/Support Services Want this mod professionally installed? It's guaranteed to work on your forum! Download the archive and see INSTALL.html/UPGRADE.html for more details! Troubleshooting Server Requirements: PHP 5 If you get an error: Code:
The Facebook Connect cross-domain receiver URL http://www.SITEURL.com/xd_receiver.h...%220.699%22%7D must have the application's callback URL http://www.SITEURL.com/forums/ as a prefix. You can configure the callback URL in the application's settings. If you get a continues this means there is a javascript error. Make sure you've done all the template edits correctly (especially footer & navbar). Clear your cache and reload the page. If nothing happens when you click the Facebook Connect button make sure your callback url domain is the same as you forum domain (the one set in your forum settings) - more specifically make sure that there is a www (or isn't) in both domains. Many more features may be implemented in the future so keep checking for updates. Show Your Support

Silk, the problems I was getting, was related to the profiles of those who joined via fb.
Heres the issue.. and yeah it just happened with this mod, before it had no errors whatsoever and after uninstalled, my board database stopped being sick =3 Code:
SELECT MAX(dateline) AS lastpost, COUNT(*) AS total FROM usernote AS usernote WHERE userid =; MySQL Error : You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 3 Error Number : 1064 why am I sure about this issue regarding this mod? because the user (which now has being deleted) was in the facebook user's group which I added for this mod only. I hope this works for future releases ^^ |

The problem I have is users get a redirect when they use the Quick Reply:
"Thank you for posting! You will now be taken to your post. If you opted to post a poll, you will now be allowed....." I've installed this a few times and I still get that redirect. I disable this mod, and it works (quick reply) without that redirect (meaning it doesn't redirect). Am I the only one with this "quick reply" redirect page? |

How do existing users use this mod without creating a new account? I installed it and the next day I had double the users... not what I was looking for...

I disable this mod, and its fine. I enable it and I get the redirect when using the quick reply. If no others are having this issue, must be unique to my site. I even tried this on a clean style. Still the same thing. I just checked my settings and I have "Remove Redirection Message Pages" set to "Yes." I'm going to install this on another site to see if maybe something else is causing it. Maybe another mod or something. |

Great hack, thank you so much!
Suggestion: Allow the user to change their "Always do this for vb connect" status in the usercp. |

Would somebody(s) who has worked through some of the technical issues mind posting a list of other mods that this FB mod has issues with and also a list of things that are on the 'to do' list? Maybe sllik could then incorporate that listing into his header and update as appropriate?
I LOVE this mod but there are a few things that keep me from installing just yet. Getting some of those conflicts resolved and additional functionality will move me forward. When I do install, I'm definitely contributing to sllik! Thanks to all who have provided insight here to keep it moving forward. |

Did you change the usergroup that they get registered to when signing up in the options?
