DownloadsII

DownloadsII is a download database that integrates into vBulletin. It allows you to upload files, add images to them, create categories, link to external files - and more. It is very flexible and has many options.

It's also coded 100% XHTML 1.0 Transitional valid, just like vBulletin itself.

Instructions & Support

Requires vBulletin 4.0.4 or higher. Not fully compatible with lower vB 4 versions.
It works fine with both the new editor in vB 4.1.4 or higher and the old one in previous vB versions.

Read the instructions in the next two posts before installing/upgrading this mod!

You can find an installation/upgrade manual in the zip package (Readme.txt).

I try to answer most questions asked in this thread. Please don't send any pm's if I don't ask for them. Don't forget to click the install link, so you will receive important update notifications.

Screenshots & Live demo

At the bottom of this post, you can find some screenshots of the front-end and back-end (AdminCP part) of the DownloadsII software.

You can find a live demo on my own site: Minatica.be Downloads (Dutch).
Though keep in mind that we are running a restyled and modified version of it.

Changelog (version 6.0.9)

Jelle
  • Added support for vB 4.1.8 bit processing with 'each' construct (backwards compatible)
  • Fixed comma listing for vB 4.1.8 (using "old" method)
Older changelogs are included in the zip package.

Help!!! I can't upload large files??

This is probably the most asked question. It's mostly caused by some default PHP settings: check "PHP Max Post Size" and "PHP Maximum Upload Size" at your AdminCP home.

Then have a look at this post for the solution to up these values.
Also have a look at this post at vB.com (but ignore the MySQL part as DownloadsII is only using the file system).

Support for this mod is thin on the ground. I'm transferring to a different mod for such features.

Support for this mod has dropped it seems, but for those of you wanting to try it here's what I got.
You must set up the downloads folder below your forum directory www.yoursite.com/forum/downloads and chmod it 777
Also, you must set up the extensions in the downloadsII options in the admincp. Set the file size for each type of extension according to your PHP limits or they wont work. Also, do not set the Mime Type & Headers in there as they are not passed to the server properly and generates a HTTP Error 500. I leave them blank and it works fine.
Once I got all that straightened out, the mod as well as the thread starting addon works perfectly on 4.1.7. PL1

Aren't these part of the regular installation instructions? It's been a long while since I had to install, so I don't remember, but I seem to remember having to do all that originally to get it working in the first place. I've been running this mod since vb 4.0.4 and am now running on 4.1.7 and it all works fine. I'm not happy that the author of the mod doesn't provide more support and doesn't add more features, but for what it is it does work :/

For me this mod does work perfectly with 4.1.7. PL2. If this does work for me (for most people here either) then it will work for anybody. If it doesn't that means you doing something wrong. For the price which we need to pay for it 0 the mod is excellent.

Since upgrading from 4.1.5 to 4.1.7 PL 2, some members have reported that are prevented from being able to download, and they see a vBulletin message:

Quote:
Sorry! You have exceeded your daily allowed download amount
I have the following settings in my AdminCP:

  1. This is the maximum MB that a user can upload. Set this to -1 for there to be NO limit.
-1
  • This is the maximum MB that a user can download in one day. Set this to -1 for there to be NO limit. -1
  • This is the maximum number of files that a user can download in one day. Set this to -1 for there to be NO limit. -1
  • Use strict daily download limits. If set to "No", a user will only receive a download limit reached message if BOTH the MB and file per day limit are reached. If set to "Yes", exceeding either limit will trigger the download limit reached message. Yes

Any ideas as to what is going on and how I can overcome this please?
