DownloadsII

DownloadsII is a download database that integrates into vBulletin. It allows you to upload files, add images to them, create categories, link to external files - and more. It is very flexible and has many options.

It's also coded 100% XHTML 1.0 Transitional valid, just like vBulletin itself.

Instructions & Support

Requires vBulletin 4.0.4 or higher. Not fully compatible with lower vB 4 versions.
It works fine with both the new editor in vB 4.1.4 or higher and the old one in previous vB versions.

Read the instructions in the next two posts before installing/upgrading this mod!

You can find an installation/upgrade manual in the zip package (Readme.txt).

I try to answer most questions asked in this thread. Please don't send any pm's if I don't ask for them. Don't forget to click the install link, so you will receive important update notifications.

Screenshots & Live demo

At the bottom of this post, you can find some screenshots of the front-end and back-end (AdminCP part) of the DownloadsII software.

You can find a live demo on my own site: Minatica.be Downloads (Dutch).
Though keep in mind that we are running a restyled and modified version of it.

Changelog (version 6.0.9)

Jelle
  • Added support for vB 4.1.8 bit processing with 'each' construct (backwards compatible)
  • Fixed comma listing for vB 4.1.8 (using "old" method)
Older changelogs are included in the zip package.

Help!!! I can't upload large files??

This is probably the most asked question. It's mostly caused by some default PHP settings: check "PHP Max Post Size" and "PHP Maximum Upload Size" at your AdminCP home.

Then have a look at this post for the solution to up these values.
Also have a look at this post at vB.com (but ignore the MySQL part as DownloadsII is only using the file system).

Hi:

I'm getting the following error message

Database error in vBulletin 4.0.0:

Invalid SQL:

SELECT dl2_files.*, dl2_extensions.mimetype, dl2_extensions.newwindow
FROM dl2_files
LEFT JOIN dl2_extensions ON (dl2_extensions.extension=dl2_files.extension)
WHERE `files.category` NOT IN (4) AND
dl2_files.id = 1;

MySQL Error : Unknown column 'files.category' in 'where clause'
Error Number : 1054

When I download files (as Admin) I don;t have any problems at all. The error message is being generated by normal registered users.

Any idea what might be going on?

Thanks

Roger

OK - answered my own question, this was caused by trying to exclude a download section

I know, I should have read the first post
"•Exclude files/categories not working good. Could throw a database error."

It does.

Thanks a lot for such a great product!
That's not a DownloadsII problem. That mod was interfering with all other mods using the postbit.
They just fixed it: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....0&postcount=37

It's using vBulletin's "Minimum Characters Per Post" setting. Change the setting, or edit the downloads2_file_addit template. Replace this code with the amount of characters you want (0 for disabling it):
Code:
{vb:raw vboptions.postminchars}

Do you plan to implement "Alphabetical view"? For now, I created my own, but my programming is far away from perfect.
Another suggestion - paid option, where users can set a price for their files. Can be integrated with any points system. Probably, this will never happen.
Thanks

- An alphabetical view is already possible. Just change the "Default Sort Field" (and "Default Sort Order) in the category admin (File Name / Ascending).
- Integration with a points system is much requested. It's high on my todo list. What points system do you use? Is there already a vB4 release of it?

It has been mentioned earlier that to fix it, go to downloads.php?do=manfiles&act=updatecounters.

By the way, RS_Jelle, would you be adding an "Update Counters" button?

Better read the rest of the thread before mentioning a few other issues I can see.
The "Update Counters" button is part of "Manage Files", which is hidden at the moment. It will be back in the next release.

1. After upgrading, when I download any of the files which had been uploaded prior to the upgrade, the file downloaded has a number as a previx, something like this: 63073-Bin Roye Aansoo.rar. Previously, when downloaded, only the title would appear, i.e. Bin Roye Aansoo.rar. Is there some way to fix this?

...

That leaves only issue no. 1.
Fixed for next release

That add-on will be updated somewhere in the future.

Seems to work OK except for when I try to add an image to a file:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function imagecreatefrombmp() in /www/enworld.org/production/htdocs/test/downloads.php on line 887

Any ideas?
That function is part of the GD library. Have you got it installed? Have a search for "gd" in your PHP info in the Maintenance AdminCP part.

Isn't there already one in the category view? The thread status icon is used by default. You can change the image in the downloads2_cat_filebit template.

You better wait for an update. The table names were changed, so it isn't recognising them any more. So if you uninstall it, the download table alterations won't be reversed.
+ If you uninstall, you loose the thread data of course.

DownloadsII 6.0.1 is the first bugfix release for the new version. While 6.0.0 was released as beta, 6.0.1 is marked as stable.

This version reintroduces "Manage Files", adds a new sub-category depth setting and gives an "Uploading File - Please Wait" message while uploading files.

DownloadsII 6.0.1 Changelog

Jelle
  • Manage Files is available again
  • New "Depth of Sub-Categories" setting
  • New "Uploading File - Please Wait" message
  • Renamed /includes/class_downloads.php to /includes/class_downloads2.php (remove the old one)
  • Updated upgrade instructions to include rebuilding the cache. This fixes the layout problem with the column bits.
  • Fixed settings phrase (the column is on the right now, not on the left)
  • Fixed database error on file page when excluding categories
  • Replaced "Fields marked in ..." error with errors for each individual field
  • Fixed copyright font color (uses its own class now)
  • Fixed a missing phrase error (wrong phrase prefix)
  • File images are targeted to a new window again
  • Fixed file name when downloading files

Btw: you can still vote for DownloadsII v6 in the MOTM (Mod of the Month) contest: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=231801
