This Hack is unsupported and incompatible with PHP 5.
You are herby advised to not use it.
If you do have this hack installed it is advised to use vBulletin Blog instead.
You can import current entries to vBulletin Blog via Impex and uninstall this hack afterwards.
I tried to send this private message to Andreas (author of this hack) but got an error that his mailbox was full. So maybe he is offline for a while...
Hi Andreas,
What's happening with vbJournal? Are you still supporting it? There are folks having trouble with it that are posting on your hack thread and not getting any response.
I wanted to install this, but I can't if there is no support. I was looking for a blog/article system where the main author's posts stay on the primary thread and discussion happens on another thread (or some how separate but associated.)
Hi there, would anyone be kind enough to post an example of this? I have a board with over 27k users and I think this might be the answer to many 'asks' for blogging capability.
Or if this isn't the hack to use, could anyone suggest a decent PHP script?
Thanks for this AMAZING, wonderful hack, first of all!
Next, I just did an upgrade from 1.0.1 to 1.0.2 and NOT until after doing so did I see the fine print in the history list to instruct me to run a QUERY before uploading the xml. I don't know if that is what caused my problem, but...
Everything seems to be fine, but I did lose ALL "last" and "latest" entries from my journals and there seems to be no tracking of the new entries.
Is there a quick and easy fix for this?
Thank you so much! Otherwise, the installation is running perfectly!
Since this is not easy to find in the search, and it is not in the documentation, someone should clearly state that an unistall of the product.xml does destroy and delete all of your journals.
My users are devestated.
I had uninstalled and reinstalled the product because it is not installing/upgrading properly. The LAST ENTRY, LATEST ENTRY, and LATEST JOURNALS are not pulling into the journal index page. I lost everything.
I don't know what to do, but do not make the mistake of uninstalling the product if you do not want to lose your journals.
Others have got caught by that too Troy, but all Andrew has said is that an uninstall can be expected to remove all traces of the program. I disagree strongly! An unistall should only remove tables if they're empty!
Have you a recent backup? It should be possible to recover the journal tables and merge them back into your database.
Hi and thanks for sharing this great hack with us
I noticed there is a "new journal" button and was wondering is the ability for certain users to have more then one journal going to be an option in the future, or is it an option already added in the latest build and I just haven't figured out how to make it go?
