I need the details and steps need to create a sub forum or child forum a PHP script

What I need to do is create sub forum or child forum in a script as described in my previouse posting on this thread and I want to use PHP script to do it as explained before and I am running into not understand the following: I was hoping someone could help me or at least point me to the correct information and documentation to do this. The problem is how to update the parent and child thead and how should I keep track of the parent and child relationships of the sub forum or child forums. I have been going through the API documnetation and do not know which api functions I should be looking at or consdiering to do this. THANKS
