Banned: False?
Every now and then (almost often) I get members complaining that they get this message (see attached)
The truth is that they were not banned (account nor IP). I am trying to trace what is causing this false message. The forum they are accessing is open to everyone as well, permissions not modifiied and the usergroup is valid without any settings to cause this false alarm. I've also attached my entire list of everything installed (hacks, extensions, plugins, etc) Any help would be appreciated. Thank you |

This happens to me, too.
99 times out of 100 the 'falsely banned' member is using AOL. Just tell them to log offline, and power down their computer. When they power up and log on again, AOL will re-assign their IP address. 100 times out of 100 this works (if the member is using AOL). I REALLY wish I knew how to resolve this glitch...it's annoying to the point that I had to make a post about it on the boards. |

This time it was AOL. Yesterday it was from UK (can't remember which ISP).
My IP ban list: 68.39.61.86 193.* 64.12.116.136 59.92.133.177 205.211.112.2 152.163.100.204 220.240.2.120 59.92.195.127 Note: if anyone was on my site with the above IP's, you were banned for a good reason LOL (humour) |

I'm not sure if you can use wildcards in the ip banning like that (i.e. the 193.* instead of 193.*.*.*) - I'm not sure what effect that would have, try removing that entry.

That is Nigeria (if I remember correctly). Too many spammers from there.
Seems to work so far. I never got complaints for that IP range anyway. Mostly UK (starting with 82.*) and some US. |

Why don't you post on vBulletin.com since you are unhappy with the response here.
More than likely it's an issue with the core software. That's my 'hint'...sorry it didn't come from someone else. *shrugs* |
