Best place to get started? (coding for vB)
Would be grateful if some of the great coders here could point us newbie coders in the right direction?
This thread should hopefully serve as a resource/guide for people who have just started to learn php but want to 'get in there' with vB. So where do you think we should start? Any tips? Read the vB coders notes to begin with? Anything in particular we need to get our heads around? Anyone of you fancy running a workshop? Perhaps cover some basics and set a task for those enlisted to have to complete within a week etc? I'm sure lots of people would really appreciate it |

There have been a lot of threads on this subject. Answer is most of the time:
- Go read php manual. - Read the vB sources - Look how other hacks are made. - Setup a testboard and start experimenting. |

Install some completely manual install hacks. Mod hack phrases and html. Tweak the php, see what happens.
(however the php's usually the one you don't want to do on a live board - who knows what could happen!) |
