why do you make mods/hacks

The title sums it up. Why do you, as an individual, make hacks? For yourself, and then share it, or what? What is your motive?

I make them for my own personal use , I have as of yet only shared one with the community (that may change soon)

I also have made some on a private nature, for the profit of it.

I just enjoy it though for the most part and like to figure out ways to do them.

I do release Hacks due to the following reasons

• I made them for Planet-Liebe, and thought others might find them useful as well
• I've read a Hack request and found the idea interesting/challanging
• Somebody requested me to make a Hack

Most of my releases fall into category 1) and 2)

I make hack because I am a programmer , like coding. I don't release many hacks here because I mostly write Java and .Net

I make hacks/addons to either proof to myself that I can do it or just why it's needed and noone has done it before (or it's too expensive ) and I find the idea at least intersting.

Most of the things however have been requested by my own forum members or someone here.
Sometimes I just want to have something specific - and then I make it
I enjoy coding and so I take quite quickly on a good idea to try to make a working something out of it.

And when something didn't take "too much of my blood" I share it here because I think (hope) that some other people might have use for or fun with it.

My 2ct

So far I released all my hacks here just for the community. I, personally, have no need for them, and I do them for the other member's and just for more coding experience. (Which is always a good thing )

Two reasons ;

1. Because the functionality was required on Cable Forum.
2. Because someone requested it.

About 95% are reason 1.

About 90% of the stuff I have done for our forum is released here.
