I searched for a hack that could do what I need, but could not find any... if there is already something similar available, please let me know.

I need the following two features:

1. The system would register the IP of users not only when they post messages (as vB does today), but also everytime they login in their accounts (even when they do not post in that session). This data could be persisted for a month or so, and the hack would allow to check if and what other users had the same IPs... (similar to the current vb admin feature, but with all registered IPs - from posts and logins)

2. The system would avoid two different user accounts being used (logins) from the same IP in 24 ou 48 hours (except for administrators...).

There are some users faking different id's in my forums to deceive other members. This hack would help preventing this kind of problem.

I am not sure of an automatic system to stop the users but there are some nice tools to go through records untill something is made.


Use real ip when proxy server is detected

This hack makes the forum always use the members real ip when a proxy is detected, meaning that all existing ip functions should continue to work, basically ignoring the proxy server (other than recording it's presence).

i.e.

* The real ip (or host) is displayed in the who's online page.
* The real and proxy server ip's are accesible for each post, the button is red for members using a proxy server.

* The real ip is searchable in the admin/mod cp (but not the proxy ip).
* The real ip can be banned by admins.
etc etc ......

Obviously this hack relies on the proxy server passing the correct http variables to allow detection.

ipInfo -- Extra user IP information

ipInfo is a replacement for the standard 'view users ip' option in
vBulletin. Normally when you click on the view ip button in a user's post
you'll only see his or hers ip address and host name.

With ipInfo you'll get more information. Besides the ip address and host
name you will also see what other users have posted with the same ip
address. That feature can be really good for spotting clones.

Another thing ipInfo will show you is what other ips this user has posted
with and how many times. Could be useful when you want to ban all of the
ips of a user and not just the one of that post.

Track all Duplicate IP Addresses via Admin CP

This hack is an admin control panel addition. It will render a complete list of all users with duplicate IP addresses in your forums. And adds very little in terms of queries and sever load. This is designed to help those site admins, who wish to, to track users which may have duplicate accounts.

Be aware that many internet service providers (AOL, JUNO, NetZero) may assign the same IP to many different users. A duplicate listing is not an immediate indication of a duplicate account by the same user.
